The 2026 Red Gauntlet Challenge is in the books! The world’s only wooden classic 3v3 team race returned to Northeast Harbor, sailed on Somes Sound in International One-Designs for the first time in over two decades. Once the fog lifted, a gorgeous 7–9 knot southerly set the stage — NEHF racing the dark-hulled boats, KYC in the light-colored hulls.

The Northeast Harbor Fleet took the best-of-seven series 4–1 over Kollegewidgwok Yacht Club — but the score doesn’t tell the whole story. Racing was razor-close: come-from-behind plays, mark traps, passbacks, and lead changes right to the finish were a constant theme all afternoon. KYC came out swinging with a dominant sweep in Race 4, but NEHF closed it out with a clutch play-2 in a chaotic Race 5 to lift the Gauntlet. The win extends NEHF’s all-time series lead to 8–6.

Huge thanks to our umpires, Sam Madden and Norman Reid, who delivered on-the-water justice and kept the racing clean, fair, and transparent. ⚖️

And just like that the 2026 IOD July Series for the Rockefeller Trophy is in the books after a wacky final day of racing! Gambler got off to a hot start and never looked back to take home the Rockefeller Trophy against 16 other great crews.

One Canadian team took part in the second edition of the Women's International One Design Invitational held September 6-7 by the Marblehead IOD Fleet and the Eastern Yacht Club in Marblehead, Massachusetts. The team of Emily Merry (skipper), Leslie Taylor, Jen Aftanas, Olivia Mason, Grace Flemming and Elsie Gillis took the second position overall out of six boats after 6 races, including two wins.
