A joy to have worked on another edition of London Sculpture Week @londonsculptureweek, alongside partners The Line @thelinelondon, Sculpture in the City @sculptureinthecity @lacunaprojects, Frieze Sculpture @fatosustek, Fourth Plinth @londonmademeofficial and East Bank @queenelizabetholympicpark.

It’s been a particularly rewarding edition, from developing the digital guide with new tours and a family activity pack, to organising the symposium, hosted at The Warburg Institute and moderated by Dr Jacek Ludwig Scarso @jacek_arte

It’s also been brilliant to work with The Wick Culture @thewickculture, who produced some amazing films for LSW throughout the week.

Learned so much as always! The week may be over but the sculptures are still up across London. Explore the works, hear from artists and partners and discover more through the London Sculpture Week digital guide on @bloombergconnects by @intransit.space

Last Friday, artists, curators, academics and practitioners came together at The Warburg Institute for the fourth London Sculpture Week Symposium, Reframing Monumentality: Contemporary Sculptural Practices in the Public Realm.

Across the afternoon, we explored what sculpture can do in public space and what happens when we look beyond the monument as a fixed object or symbol of permanence. Conversations moved through unmonumental practices, representation, relation and affect, opening up different ways of thinking about how sculpture can occupy, shape and respond to the spaces we share.

Thank you to all our speakers, contributors and everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon such a thoughtful and generous conversation.

Organised by London Sculpture Week partners East Bank, Fourth Plinth, Frieze Sculpture, Sculpture in the City and The Line, and hosted by The Warburg Institute in collaboration with CREATURE at London Metropolitan University.

Access is often decided long before anyone talks about accessibility.

It’s shaped by the venue you choose.
The timeline you set.
The budget you work with.
The people you plan for and the people you don’t.

This workshop is about recognising how access gets shaped at the planning stage of creative projects and what you can do when things already feel fixed.

We’ll look at:
• how early decisions affect access
• working within limited budgets and timelines
• what to do when you can’t immediately change the venue, format or resources available

Included:
• 1.5 hour workshop + Q&A
• recording for one month
• budget planning template
• GROW framework for achievable next steps

For artists, curators and creatives producing their own projects.

Comment ACCESS and we’ll send you the link.

Access isn’t just the ‘big, expensive’ things. You can have BSL, captions, step free access and still find people aren’t showing up.

This taster looks at the small decisions that shape whether people can find, enter and stay at your event.

How it works…
• A quick 40 min session, 30 mins + 10 min Q&A
• We’ll share real examples (tone, placement, usability)

You’ll leave with things you can actually change straight away. For artists, curators, creatives and producers leading their own projects

Interested? Comment LINK and we’ll send you the link to sign up!

Part Two teaching accessibility. @celinaloh_ from @intransit.space taught Leeds Becketts Fine Art Students about 'Intergrating Access' into their artwork practice as part of the 'From My Bed' project. Curated by myself and @abbierosebruff.

The students learnt multiple ways of creating and exhibiting with access in mind. Done in various different ways for a wide variety of artworks, from smell, touch and sound.

Then as an activity and to show that creating for access doesn't have to be expensive everyone created artwork using cardboard, string and glue guns to create tactile artwork to explore and play with access.

Thank you Celina for showing how access can and should be taught! Also, for proving to myself that my dreams of art education Intergrating access is something that can happen

This month, the Kakilang team had the pleasure of joining two inclusivity training sessions led by Celina Loh @celinaloh_ of In Transit. We left feeling truly inspired and we look forward to putting everything we’ve learned into practice ✨

👾 In Transit @intransit.space is a non-profit contemporary arts platform dedicated to artistic exchange and making the arts more accessible to disabled audiences.

As founding director, Celina’s work centres on integrating access into creative practices, care and equity in the arts, policy making, and fostering community care in online and hybrid spaces.

💌 A huge thank you to the YDP team @ydp_space for hosting these sessions with us! by @intransit.space

Access riders are useful. But they rely on disclosure, language, timing and trust. And not everyone has equal access to those conditions.

Alongside that, it’s also about how we pay attention to each other and how we relate.

As part of our research, we’ve been thinking about how access is shaped by relationships, everyday interactions beyond processes and forms.

Share with us, what helps you feel able to share what you need?

Access doesn’t start when someone arrives at your event.

It usually starts before the door, in how your invitation is written, framed and structured before anyone gets there. These small decisions shape whether something feels easy to enter or slightly out of reach.

We’ve written a short piece on this including a few case studies from practice, read it on the link in bio or at

From my Bed, an exhibition co curated by Joanne Tiffany @joanne_tiffany_art (In Transit Ambassador) and Abbie Bruff @abbierosebruff

The exhibition considers artworks created from thebed due to reasons of health, poverty, or protest to explore human vulnerability, adaptability and endurance and includes contributions from Yoko Ono, Mary McCartney, Wakefield Mental Health Museum, Bluecoat, In Transit and more.

We trained the artists on writing audio descriptions for their works and will be delivering a workshop on integrating creative access using materials found at home in May as part of the exhibition programming.

A great workshop by @celinaloh_ from @intransit.space teaching @lbu_ba_fineart and @mafineart_lbu Leeds Beckett students Audio Descriptions as part of the 'From My Bed' exhibition.

A beautiful and yet complex bit of description that is so needed, especially in accessibility. So proud of the work that Celina and staff at Intransit do to educate artists and curators with expanding their practice to be more accessible to make the art world a better and more inclusive space.
