I am Northern New Mexican.

Chimayo was a land where my mother’s lineage traces back for hundreds of years.

Since I was 5 I could see things and know things from energies beyond my own understanding. I was gifted. Sensitive. Picked up on other people’s energies, crafted stories in my imagination without needing to be told things. Predicting events that I didn’t yet have the words for.

My grandfather’s family left New Mexico and moved to California when he was just an adolescent and entered a place where Latinos were considered outsiders. He faced difficulty with speaking English and being able to communicate with people who spoke a different type of Spanish than the dialect of his home.

Forced assimilation meant he protected his children and their children by letting go of his language. Not passing on his traditions. Through my gifts of spiritual time travel I feel his pain and I understand. I am grateful that my ancestors called me back to this land. I am grateful for their teaching which has brought me to the work and the purpose of my life. Moving to the southwest has been the most nourishing healing gift I could have given myself.

Now it’s my honor to treasure this magical place and to share the gifts of this land, our people, our traditions by hosting women traveling from all over. This season I’ve served women from California, Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. taken in New Mexico by @invocationretreats

For millions of people, bright lights can wreck and entire day and most people will never understand why. Whether neurodivergent or not, if you’ve ever worn sunglasses inside, ended a workday foggy and irritable from fluorescent lights, or dreaded the grocery store lighting, this one’s for you.
