True Euphoria (I want YOU to rave!):
Finally sharing this beast of a painting with all, and extremely happy to do so as it’s been haunting me the entirety of this term. She is without a doubt my most ambitious painting in a number of ways, and it feels so incredibly appropriate that this piece, a love letter to myself and to the catharsis and euphoria that is sacred dance floors, is my very last piece at art center. It’s been a delight to create connections with my painting and poster designs and create the world of true euphoria. This is the beginning of so much more I’m so excited to make.

This piece and more will be up for view at my graduation show, this Saturday April 27th, at the Pasadena Convention Center (from 12-5pm)! I am so excited and proud to graduate with such an incredibly talented group of peers and friends and share this moment of celebration together. I’m tremendously and endlessly grateful to art center for the growth, the space to understand myself, and the community I’ve been so fortunate to cultivate🫀. the past 3 years have been priceless, and it’s all coming to a bittersweet end. first round of my post term dump is in order and I have to talk a little bit more about senior projects and my ridiculous amazing satirical extravagant project that is so near and dear to my heart. an explosive combination of rave and club culture, the archetypes I find within it, and HELL (lmao). I have been endlessly inspired by my trip to Berlin this term and it weaved its way into every piece of work I have made in some way or another. Seeing an incredible amount of religious art and depictions of hell in Germany and simultaneously experiencing the most incredible club culture on the planet created something kinda monstrous and very beautiful (to me). And lastly, a massive thank you to @jasonholleypictures , for giving me the space to create from the deepest part of me and the space to get continuously freakier as I go. edc ‘26❤️🌈✨🪽🦋💋✨👾😈🤑🫂🧚🏻‍♀️…my first edc… the final boss of USA raving ….. the weekend of my LIFEEEEEE. plur absolutely everywhere, pure dancing energy all night long until sunrise, PERFECT BUMPING MUSIC, hardly any phones on the dance floor,,,,, my heart is absolutely FULL, and my eyes are filled with tears from the fomo I already feel 💔what a perfect weekend with my literal FAMILY. so many memories on so many dance floors with you all that we will only make moreeeee of❤️🌈❤️ LOVE IN MY HEART GUYS, we’ll be back next year!!!👼 by @ione.bleu

“Ione Bleu Bustos is a Los Angeles-based artist with a multidisciplinary studio practice that includes painting, drawing, ceramics, and printmaking. Her work is rooted in the evolution of her specific identities and their nuances, Bustos regularly mining herself and her lived experiences as source material. The figures that fill her works, which are almost always manifestations of herself, speak to the artist’s relationship with herself and the larger world at hand.

Bustos is also informed by the history and practice of electronic music and its highly sophisticated subculture, as well as the experiences of navigating her own place within it. By weaving these two central themes together, Bustos’s larger body of work aims to orchestrate an entirely new and subverted reality in which she is the central character.”⁠

I’m so thrilled to share that I was invited to be part of the New American Paintings 2025 Review Exhibition at @stevenzevitasgallery in Boston.🪞

My painting “The Clock is Ticking, and I Can’t Just Change the Channel” will be on view, and the opening reception will be held June 6th from 5:30-8 PM.

I wish I could be there for the opening reception but if any of my people happen to be in Boston at the time or in the near future, go see her in person!

Hello all, it’s been a while (too long, my apologies) since I’ve done a proper hard post about recent work, and as I navigate this post grad world and getting a grip on this new (it feels funny to use the word new now) year, I hope I can be more consistent for you all. And I as I prepare to share some ✨very exciting and wonderful news✨ (nottttt just yet!), what better time than now to get this damn ball rolling.

Starting with a hard ground etching from last term, with several different ink color and chine collé variations. As many of you already know, I started working in the print shop as a shop assistant last term, something I regularly practice gratitude about, and this was the first plate / print I made newly on the job. Back to my etching roots, something fun and tender, right on the heels of my last trip to Berlin last summer (evidently so)❤️‍🔥🖤❤️‍🔥 by @ione.bleu
