Africa's first Wheelchair Fencing Academy! ✅️

Participants from Botswana, Gambia, Liberia, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Togo received expert insights from World Para Fencing’s Coaches’ Representative Ivan Schwantes. Singapore are also attended independently, taking the opportunity to build their budding programme.

Classification, health, refereeing and the rules of wheelchair fencing were all on the agenda alongside practical sessions on equipment, equipment adaptations and the principles of training.

The Academy leaves a legacy not only for those who took part but in Nigeria itself, with two fencing frames sure to be put to good use by the national team and for the benefit of the African region. Thanks to everyone who made it possible!

We hope to see you all on the world stage soon!
