In 2015, when the late Muhammadu Buhari got elected for his term as Nigeria’s President, I was serving in Katsina State, Nigeria as part of the mandatory one year National Youth Service scheme for all Nigerian graduates. In the lead up to the elections, I had hoped to participate as an election staff but I was warned by my parents and everyone who knew I was in Katsina at the time, not to participate because I was a girl of Yoruba descent living in Northern Nigeria and in Buhari’s home state no less. It was a high stakes election and if any trouble broke out (as trouble often does break out during elections), they feared I might be one of the first victims. Buhari’s supporters had also surfaced threats of violence. There was palpable tension in the lead up to the elections. Whether or not their fears were founded, I did not have a death wish so I listened to them and I did not sign up to be an election staff. As usual, the elections were marred with irregularities but thankfully, Goodluck Jonathan promptly conceded defeat after Buhari was declared winner, averting any major clash. When I participated closely in elections analysis in 2023, I realized how plainly elections reveal and fan our differences to flame. As the 2027 elections approach, my friends and I at @tgfgnetwork decided to do something to change the narrative around elections starting with the young people we work with and that is why we developed Kójọ and Friends, a narrative style peace education manual to help teenagers know there is another way and to choose peace when confronted with differences. So far, we have reached 240 teenagers with copies but our plan is to reach 10,000 teenagers. The total we are hoping to raise is 7.5 million naira (About 5,600 USD). Will you help us? One of the reasons I love this hymn is the reminder that, in a world with many triggers of anxiety, prayer is always an option. Instead of worrying, I can turn to a loving Father who cares and listens. Its lyrics are simple but profound. I hope they encourage you to know that you don’t have to bear your burdens alone. You can take it all to God in prayer. Happy Sunday! 🎹 @marvel_b1 📹 @marv_creative_studio #eyinjuoluwa #happysunday by @ipelumiobisesan

On September 9, I officially graduated from SOAS University of London with a PhD in Development Studies. Felt so proud and thankful to walk across the stage to mark the official end to an incredible journey! So grateful for my husband who stepped up in no small way while I spent days without end in the Library or at my desk. Thankful for my friends and family for all their support because it literally took a village! #phdgrad 📸 - @musabwanalimedia by @ipelumiobisesan
Here is a reminder that we serve a God of all possibilities. This chorus holds a special place in my heart because it is my go-to song when I go to God with requests that are seemingly too big. Time after time, he proves himself to be the Impossibility Specialist. I hope this reminds you that nothing is impossible for God to do. 🎹 @marvel_b1 📹 @marv_creative_studio #eyinjuoluwa #chorus by @ipelumiobisesan
Peace isn’t something we simply hope for. It’s something we can teach. That’s the heart of why Kójọ & Friends was created. At Teens Going for Gold Network (TGFGN), we believe every teenager deserves the opportunity to learn the values that help them build healthy relationships, think critically, resolve conflict peacefully and become ambassadors of peace in their schools, homes and communities. If we want a more peaceful Nigeria, we have to start with the teenagers we’re raising today. To partner with us, sponsor a Peace Ambassador by helping a teenager own their copy of Kójọ & Friends. One copy of Kójọ & Friends costs ₦2,500. Account Name: Teens Going for Gold Development Initiative Account Number: 0094591333 Bank: Sterling Bank Together, we’re raising a generation that chooses peace. #TeensGoingForGoldNetwork #TGFGN #PeaceEducation #KojoAndFriends #PeaceAmbassadors #YouthDevelopment #Leadership #BuildingPeace #Nigeria #ConflictResolution #nonprofitnigeria by @ipelumiobisesan
When peace takes centre stage, this is what you get. Our Peace Manual Launch & Peace Education Bootcamp this past weekend brought together educators, students, development practitioners, and peacebuilders around a shared commitment: building a more peaceful, sustainably developed future for Lagos State, Nigeria. It was another fulfilling day at the office for us, helping young people learn peace to sustain development. 🎥 @awitcreates #tgfgnetwork #peaceeducation #Kójọ&friends #peaceambassador #lagos by @ipelumiobisesan

Sometimes, the best portraits happen unplanned. This was a spontaneous session. Minimal makeup, no pressure, just pure vibes. Happy birthday, Pelumi! We still managed to create something simple yet beautiful. 🎉📸 Founder, Teens Going For Gold Network. by @ipelumiobisesan
