The best part about making films is honestly never only the film, it is the people you are making it with.

A perfect team is not made of only hard-working people.

It is made of people who can crack a joke to ease the tension. Who can laugh at those jokes. Who can pat your back and say, “Well done”. Who can give you a shoulder to cry on. Who can be patient. Who can apologise. Who can cheer each other on.

Because these people will carry you through your toughest moments. They will make sure your film is made, and exactly how you want it.

Hard work is a given. No one can make it on a film set without working hard. by @iradeokule

Back when I was in college, I would always mock the people who had BTS photographers on set. It seemed like such a wasteful spend. As nearly broke film students who paid for food, accommodations and petrol out of our own pockets, having one extra and seemingly unnecessary person in the crew felt foolish to me at the time.

So in all the three short films I directed, I never got anyone to do the BTS. Any behind-the-scene content came as a courtesy of the crew and cast members who snapped some glimpses here and there.

But now that I look back, I wished I had been willing enough to shell out some extra money to get a BTS photographer on set. So many moments - from the chaos of pre-production, to on set banters to the never ending editing - are only a part of collective or even singular memory now. I have nothing to look at and cherish all those memories on a random night.

Anyway, this is a reminder to any film students out there: Having a BTS photographer is a worthy spend. It is an emotional investment, even if it doesn’t seem like it at the moment. by @iradeokule
