Challenging conditions, close racing and a worthy national championship fleet in Dartmouth ⛵️

The 2026 GBR IRC National Championship was held as part of Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta Sailing Week, with racing taking place in Start Bay across a seven-race series.

From 140 entries across the wider regatta, 61 yachts raced under IRC, with 39 endorsed boats eligible for the national championship title.

Congratulations to Claire and Ed Mockridge’s Elaine Again, winners of the 2026 GBR IRC National Championship, with David Franks’ Leon second overall and Simon Patterson’s Standfast third 🏆

Heavy Maxi Traffic & Precision Tactics on Day 2 of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup! 💨🏆

With a light wind forecast off Porto Cervo, the fleet was sent northwest through the islands of La Maddalena, setting up a masterclass in IRC tactical management and course navigation.

Maxi 1 (Rolex IMA World Championship)

After almost 3 hours of racing over a 39-mile course around Razzoli, Joost Schuijff’s 100ft Leopard 3 claimed victory by just 46 seconds on corrected time over line-honours leader V (Karel Komárek). Smart sail changes—shifting between a masthead zero and jibtop—made all the difference through the narrow reaches of Bomb Alley.

Maxi Grand Prix

Peter Dubens’ new judel/vrolijk 76 North Star III dominated for a second straight day, taking line honours 7:10 ahead of Jolt and securing the win by 3:48 on IRC corrected time. Carrying an IRC TCC of 1.681, her speed on the water is bridging the gap toward the Maxi 1 fleet.

Maxi 3

Luciano Gandini’s Mylius 80 FD Twin Soul B rebounded from yesterday's penalty to take 1st place on corrected time ahead of the Wally 94 Astra 1.

Maxi 4 & 5

In Maxi 4, Vincenzo Addessi’s Mylius 18E35 Fra Diavolo took the win under IRC corrected time. Despite Luigi Sala’s Vismara 62 Yoru taking line honours, Fra Diavolo held close enough on the water to claim overall victory. Over in Maxi 5, Riccardo De Michele’s Vallicelli 78 H2O delivered a massive performance, winning by 11 minutes and 42 seconds on IRC corrected time over the classic Swan 65 Shirlaf.

With weather moving in for Wednesday, the scheduled layday has been brought forward. Racing resumes Thursday!

Maxi racing, IRC at heart ⛵⏱️

Clear Sardinian waters and some of the finest racing yachts in the world. The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup returns to Porto Cervo this week, with IRC at the heart of the competition.

Running from 6–12 September, the regatta brings together the maxi racing world for coastal courses through the La Maddalena archipelago and windward-leeward racing, with world titles at stake in Maxi 1 and Maxi Grand Prix. 🏆

Among those racing under IRC are Galateia, defending her Maxi 1 world title, alongside Magic Carpet E, My Song and Leopard 3. In Maxi Grand Prix, reigning champion Django 7x faces a fleet including Bella Mente, Jethou and newcomer Northstar III.

Across the Maxi classes, IRC provides the common measure: different designs competing on corrected time, with preparation, tactical decisions and every manoeuvre contributing to the result.

A spectacular showcase for the breadth of IRC racing, from purpose-built Grand Prix yachts to performance cruisers, on one of sailing’s biggest stages.

Ino Veritas Wins RORC Channel Race 🏆👏

James Neville’s Botin 52 Ino Veritas has dominated the 2026 RORC Channel Race, sweeping both Line Honours (Hugh Astor Trophy) and the Overall IRC Win (Channel Challenge Cup)! Crossing the finish line after 13 hours, 40 minutes, and 45 seconds, Ino Veritas corrected to an impressive corrected time of 19:27:06 under IRC (TCC 1.422) to claim top spot overall.

James Holder’s Uno took Multihull Line Honours and the MOCRA class win. Other class victories went to L’Ange de Milon in IRC One, Midnight Blues in IRC Two and Two-Handed (also taking 3rd overall, just +4m 50s off 2nd), Foggy Dew in IRC Three, and Elaine Again in IRC Four.

From light, shifty breezes to high-speed blasting at 24 knots in 25-knot winds, the 150nm race tested crews to their absolute limit.

🇮🇪 @cork_week is in full swing 🥳

Hosted by the @royalcorkyc in Crosshaven, Cork Week is one of Europe’s longest-running and most prestigious sailing regattas, attracting an outstanding fleet from Ireland, the UK and beyond.

With a blend of coastal and inshore racing, the event provides a true test of seamanship, tactics and consistency, with many of the fleet competing under the IRC Rating Rule.

From light airs and sea mist to classic south-westerly breezes, competitors have already experienced the full spectrum of Irish sailing conditions, with plenty more racing still to come.

RORC Rating Office Appoints Rob Taylor as Deputy Director.

The RORC Rating Office is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Taylor as Deputy Director, effective 7 July 2026, further strengthening its technical, regulatory and international expertise across IRC rating, safety and race organisation services.

Rob will join the Rating Office team to support the delivery of technical and measurement services, strengthen engagement with stakeholders, and contribute to the continued development of IRC, YTC and the wider activities of the Rating Office. He will also represent RORC and IRC at major events, and support governance, compliance and safety standards for sailors, designers, industry partners and rule authorities worldwide.

A qualified naval architect and a member of the RORC Technical Committee, Rob joins the RORC Rating Office from the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency, where he served as Code Vessel Lead and helped shape modern regulation for small commercial and recreational vessels. He previously held senior roles in sailing administration with World Sailing and the RYA, working across racing rules, measurement and equipment compliance at five Olympic Games and numerous World and Continental Championships. His experience ranges from class engagement to major event support, working alongside measurers and manufacturers to ensure fair, consistent, and well-regulated competition on the water.

DAGUET 5 on the charge ⚡👏

DAGUET 5, skippered by Frédéric Puzin, rounds the top mark before charging into the Aegean — a sharp early statement from one of the standout IRC contenders.

The 6th edition of the AEGEAN 600 got underway from Cape Sounion this weekend, sending a record fleet of 71 teams from 21 nations onto a 605-mile non-stop course through the Greek islands.

Organised by the Hellenic Offshore Racing Club and Olympic Marine, the race blends big breeze, complex island transitions and world-class offshore racing. Across the fleet, crews are racing under IRC and multihull rating systems — with DAGUET 5 currently leading overall on IRC corrected time. 🕰️🥇

Follow the race as the IRC battle unfolds across one of the most striking 600-mile courses in offshore sailing.
