Listen, beloveds.During my time in Ghana, I found myself in conversations so meaningful that I decided, very spontaneously, to get a small sound device, just so you could hear what was being said. Some recordings are clearer than others. I’m not a pro content creator nor am I a journalist. And honestly, this is way outside my comfort zone. So please don’t mind the editing, nor the staging of it all.🤭What DOES matter is this: I was deeply inspired by so many of you who share stories and content online. Because stories like these deserve to be heard. They carry wisdom, lived experience, and truth.So yes… at my tender age, I decided to join y’all in this content sharing 🙏🏾😅😘But this is not about me.This is about the people who hustle every single day to keep their Craft alive. Today, on Keti Koti, I pause to honour our Ancestors, their love, their dignity, courage, knowledge and the strength that carried us through unimaginable brutality.The more often I return to Ghana and other places on the continent, the clearer it becomes for me and many others that a vital part of the puzzle is still missing. There has never been a full, official apology, recognition of the indescribable inhumanity, nor a sincere request for forgiveness from former colonial powers such as the Netherlands, offered on the very soil where the suffering began. The continent is Africa and in this case Ghana. Without that truth‑telling, without space for all perspectives, also that of the various descendants of those left behind, the real and full Sankofa remains out of reach. I encourage us all to always search for the untold stories and perspectives and if it is within your calling, your means, travel back to where the story of your Ancestors began. Travel back to the heart of your heritage!!And yet, it is also important to acknowledge how far we have come, through the collective work, courage, and devotion of our collective Ancestors from so many cultural nations across the world, and through the commitment of all living generations who continue to build, heal, develop, pass on and push for justice. What we stand on today is the result of unwavering vision, labour and love.May today and al days hold moments of deep reflection, a day to remember Keti Koti, Kadena Kibrá, our shared history, and everything that binds us.May it remind us of the infinite love and resilience of our Ancestors, the Elders and of the responsibility we carry to honour their legacy with intention and respect for a better future of us all and our future generations.Wishing each of us a soft, conscious day& beyond.🤍🙏🏾🌍🌿👑💜✊🏾🍀🌊🌸 by @ireneahin

Proud beyond words!!Today my sister @curvyrocks shared her incredible health & womb journey with a grace and strength that left me in awe.Today’s phenomenal event ‘In the Name of Bloom’, was another beautiful brainchild creation by the ever-inspiring @louisafofie, Founder of @lawandbeauty. An elegant Bridgerton Themed gathering designed for women’s (womb)health.The room was alive with stories, impactful, vulnerable yet powerful.So many amazing ladies coming together, speaking openly about womb health, breaking silence, breaking stigma, and blooming in community. I’m so grateful to you for curating this beautiful event.You created an intentional, warm space where care, grace & sisterhood were felt in every detail.All our senses were nourished, from the delicious bites and drinks to the heartfelt conversations🙏🏾💝💫 When Louisa invited me as Keynote Speaker to share my breast cancer story, I felt honoured.I’ve spoken about my journey & breast cancer awareness before, but never have I shared such deeply personal reflections with a room full of extraordinary women.This time I wanted to voice what often goes unspoken: the real talks with our inner circle, intimacy after diagnosis, survival mode, loneliness & a holistic path to recovery.But the true eye-opener was talking about grief and survivor’s guilt & finding the courage to search for purpose again.The way you listened, responded and shared made this moment profoundly healing. Last night was pure Art in motion. 🎭💃🏾🕺🏽A Gala night hosted by Winti Priestess Okomfo Nana Efua Marian Markelo and Artist & DJ Chantelle (@boris_van_berkum), with vibrant performances, Rituals, Art and Cultural Celebration.This year’s theme:’The Power of Women’ honoured @mama_aisa, the nurturing and grounding Winti Spirit of earth, fertility and creation.I had the honour of serving on the jury for Best Dressed Guest, surrounded by beautiful guests in their stunning cultural attire.As an ode to the evening, I was adorned with my first hand-tied Nigerian Adele Asọ Oke Gele by the very capable hands of Mama Joyce. And she is a whole mood!! Teaching me some valuable African lessons on Womanhood while fixing my headpiece.👑 The Gele is the ultimate crown of identity & pride and speaks a language of its own; it’s a story of grace, confidence and lineage. Passed on by generations of women who knew the power of showing up, adorned, grounded, rooted in their culture, unapologetic.When we wear our Ancestral designs, we become the bridge between what was and what continues.May we keep embracing wearable heritage as our collective living art form. I wish I could let you smell my favorite incense through this screen, it’s sooo good!! 🪔💜💨💨Incense has always been part of human history. From the temples of Ancient Khemet or Bhārata, to the Mosques of Arabia, from West African Shrines to the family homes where humans passed down their rituals of care. Incense resins were traditionally used to perfume the air or anoint the body with oils, but also infused in water as healing tonics for digestion or to strengthen the immune system.Burning incense is never “‘just for fragrance’, more for purification, prayer, intention and presence.In my daily life, I light incense at any given reflective moments. The rising smoke feels like an invitation: to slow down, to release or welcome and to step into clarity. A daily reminder that ritual anchors us in a world that often pulls us in many directions.In the Arab world, the dark Bakhoor Oudh is often called the ‘Queen of perfumes’, treasured as one of the world’s rarest and most expensive scents. Spiritually, it is seen as a purifying protector and a bridge between the human and the Divine. Often times, people don’t think of Africa when it comes to the origin of Incence, yet Frankincense has its ancient roots in counties like Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Mali or Niger. Life on African soil is rounded by incense. Blended with local herbs, resins and sacred woods. Pregnant women bathe in its protective smoke, the newborn and the newly wed are anointed in its sandalwood fumes. Incense is burnt to heal the sick, to commemorate the departed loveones and summon or subdue spirits.This scented heritage is used for a range of physical, mental & spiritual Wellness traditions passed down for generations.So on every journey I search for new local incense.
