THROW BACK THURSDAY. Never posted about this race so thought I’d put it out there now. To be honest the 58 hour race is a bit of a blur, things I learned, eventually caffeine stops working, you can actually fall asleep while walking and you can consume too many electrolytes. But with that being said it’s one of those things you say you’ll never do again but then start looking for the next challenge. For those of you who didn’t know One year ago I experienced a heart attack and was given a stint by the good folks of Mayo. Lying in that hospital bed, I was totally confused and concerned what the future would bring. Well yesterday, on my birthday, I answered that question with a strong 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike in the Georgia mountains (hills) and a sub 2 hour 13.1 mile run to put me in the top five and on the podium of the Augusta 70.3 Ironman, Happy Birthday to Me! Thanks to all the friends and relatives who trained with and supported me along the way, we’ve only just begun.

Run 9, Swim 2, Run 2 for 13 miles or Run 15000m, Swim 3300m, Run 3300m for 21600 meters, it just sounds like more in meters 🤣 first run was run/walk with @msultramann , swim with @yulia_bily , welcome back and a solo run back to the car. Happy Saturday everyone, enjoy your weekend, go outside!!!

Indoor Olympic Swim/Bike brick 1.2 miles in the pool then 25 on the Peloton, first bike training in 6 months, don’t really miss it but it felt good and the longer I went the stronger I felt. It’s been a while since @kris.neal.corbett and I team (We Be Family) have done @otilloraceusa SwimRun race but now it’s official, we’ll be in Austin Texas back at it. SwimRun is a great sport and you don’t have to ship your bike 🤣 If you have any questions message me or check out @thelowtideboyz.

Ocean was big with a fast current, so much fun, then run back barefoot on the beach because that’s where the food is. SwimRun is an amazing sport, check out @thelowtideboyz and @otillorace for some great information. It was suggested that I run my age in miles on my birthday and I’m not one to back down from a challenge, but I don’t think I would’ve got 67 miles in on my lunch break.🤪 Even though I’m at work the day has been great, even got a cake out of the deal, thanks @stephenramsdell and docs.
