You molded me into the woman I am today, instilling in me the values of education, communication, and self-belief. Your lessons on grace, confidence, and intelligence resonated with me on stage, and they propelled me to success. Today, I stand before you as the Queen of Carnival/ Miss Antigua & Barbuda 2023, and it feels like a dream come true! From the depths of my heart, I want to express my utmost gratitude to everyone who believed in me, supported me, and cheered me on throughout this remarkable journey.Since I was a little girl, winning this prestigious pageant and becoming Miss Antigua & Barbuda was a dream I held close to my heart. And now, here I am, living proof that with vision, self-belief, and an unwavering determination, anything is possible! I can’t stress enough how important it is to never give up on your dreams, no matter how big they may seem.The power of the mind is truly astonishing. With the right mindset and unwavering faith in ourselves, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way. I am a living testament to this truth, and I hope my journey inspires each one of you to believe in yourselves and pursue your passions with all your heart.I want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank my dear mother, Wonetta Corbin-Smith who has been my guiding light and mentor. Her words of wisdom, her unwavering support, and her relentless encouragement have shaped me into the woman I am today. Though she may not be physically present, I feel her presence in every step I take. From the very beginning, this journey was never just about preparing for a pageant; it was about helping a young woman discover what she was truly capable of. Week after week, I watched her grow from someone battling fear and self-doubt into someone who stepped confidently onto that stage feeling the fear but doing it anyways.While people may expect every contestant I coach to leave with a crown, I have always believed that my real responsibility is much bigger than that.My goal is that every young woman I mentor leaves the experience stronger than when she began. More confident. More disciplined. More resilient. More certain of her own worth.Reading Michelle’s message to me after the competition reminded me that we accomplished exactly that.She thanked me for believing in her when she struggled to believe in herself. But the truth is, she did the hard part. She showed up. She pushed through the nerves. She trusted the process. She discovered a confidence that no one can ever define.Michelle, thank you for trusting me with your journey. Coaching you has been truly special, and I know this is only the beginning. The one thing I love about myself is my ability to create visual diaries of my life. I capture everything I can and while I don’t post it all; I spend time reviewing my gallery and it’s like going through a journal that helps me through rough patches because I’m able to see clearly my growth and feel proud in my achievements and all I have overcome.
