Since 1967, people have stood here wondering what the next 50 miles might ask of them on the Long Mynd 50.

50 miles. Nearly 3,000m of climbing. 8 summits. Daylight into darkness and 24 hours to get it done. ⛰️💪🏼

The first half is hard but the second half involves tired legs, pitch-black hills, headtorches and probably some very honest conversations about whose idea this actually was. 😂 💁🏻‍♀️

Anyway… paid for it now. Best crack on. 😂⛰️

Two weeks ago we were throwing weights around and running trails. 🏃🏻‍♀️🌲 This time tomorrow we’ll be knee deep in a 50-mile hilly ultra over the Shropshire Hills.

At some point this “keeping fit” got wildly out of hand. 😂

Nothing says birthday balance quite like signing up for a fitness race, racing home for an early Oktoberfest celebration… and topped off with a beautiful sunset. 😍

Sweat, steins and skies — a pretty perfect day if you ask me. 🏃🏻‍♀️🌲🍻🌄

4th in female pairs, not my best day due to injury, but great event and there is no better back drop than the trails.🌲

1hr 6 for 10.4 miles and 5 movement stations.

Thank you everyone for the birthday messages and kind words 🥰, 45 will look the same as 44 , but worse 🤣,💪🏼, bring it on!

Back to the trails again in a mixture of weather taking on some of the long mynd 50. Made a last minute decision to enter again 🙄 and I’m already dreading it 🫠… The things we do to remind ourselves we can do hard things 💪🏼🖤.

Yesterday was one of those days that reminds you just how incredible it is to be alive. 🧠⛰️

We took on the Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Horseshoe crossing Crib Goch, Garnedd Ugain and Yr Wyddfa before continuing over Y Lliwedd. Raising money for Mind Over Matter, challenging comfort zones and sharing a day that I don’t think any of us will forget.

The weather gave us everything. Blue skies. Endless views. Mountains stretching as far as we could see. But somewhere between the scrambling, the conversations, the silence and simply stopping to look around… it became about so much more than the challenge.

People talked when they wanted to talk.
They listened when they wanted to listen.
And sometimes, nobody needed to say anything at all.

Because how do you put into words what it feels like to stand somewhere like that?

There are people who will go through their whole lives without ever seeing the world from a mountain top. Without watching the clouds drift beneath them. Without feeling that strange mixture of being completely insignificant and unbelievably lucky at the same time.

Yesterday, we got to.

And that is something I will never take for granted.
Thank you to everyone who raised money and participated and thank you also to @mountainstothesealtd for leading us safely. 🏔️💚
