My Aleppo-inspired soap is made with extra virgin olive oil, bay laurel oil, French green clay, cedarwood and frankincense.

Cut, bevelled, stamped with حلب (Halab), and cured for 8 months. Inspired by the traditional soapmaking heritage of Aleppo, Syria, with my own ISHTI twist.

One long loaf. A whole lot of soapmaking love. 🌿🫒

Unmoulding my Aleppo-inspired soap is one of the most satisfying parts of the process.

Made with extra virgin olive oil, bay laurel oil, French green clay and my own little ISHTI twist, this batch brings together traditional Aleppo soap inspiration and my approach to handmade soapmaking.

From pouring the soap batter to unmoulding the loaf and splitting it into sections, every step has its own magic.

And this is just the beginning. Next comes cutting, bevelling, and the special HALAB (حلب) stamp.

Because at ISHTI, I believe in carefully chosen ingredients, traditional craftsmanship and taking pride in the little details.

This is where my Aleppo soap finally takes shape. 🌿

After all that mixing, the soap goes into the mould.

Extra virgin olive oil.
Bay laurel oil.
My little ISHTI twist.

Then I smooth the top, add a little design…

and let time do its thing.

This batch was made in February and cured for 7 months before it was ready.

And a little appreciation for the beautiful soap mould that helped bring this loaf to life. 🤎

I took a centuries-old soap tradition… and gave it an ISHTI twist. 👀🌿

Traditional Aleppo soap is known for its simple base of extra virgin olive oil and bay laurel oil, a soapmaking tradition associated with Aleppo, Syria.

For my version, I added a little cedarwood essential oil and frankincense to bring in that earthy, woody, old-world fragrance.

And then came the satisfying part…

THE MIXING. 🫒🌿

Slowly bringing everything together before this soap begins its long curing journey.

Handmade soap. Aleppo soap. Olive oil soap. Bay laurel soap. Natural soap. Traditional soapmaking.

And this is only Part 2.

Our candles are not the prettiest. And honestly? That’s the point. 🕯️ The market is full of beautiful candles that look like dosa, laddu, pizza, burgers and honestly… some of them are prettier than me. 😂
But I wasn’t trying to make a candle that just looks good.

I wanted to make a natural beeswax candle with essential oils, poured into terracotta, without artificial colours or synthetic fragrance.
Something you actually want to burn.

Something that becomes part of your slow mornings, evening journaling and quiet weekends.

Because for me, a candle shouldn’t just be Instagram-worthy. It should be meaningful.

Beeswax.
Terracotta.
Essential oils.
Simple ingredients.
Slow making.

Pretty is optional. Purpose isn’t.

This is why I make candles differently. 🪔

What happens when extra virgin olive oil meets bay laurel oil? 🌿🫒

You get the beginning of a traditional Aleppo soap.

Aleppo soap, traditionally made in Syria, is known for its simple formulation of olive oil and bay laurel oil. For my version, I’ve also added French green clay.

No complicated ingredient list. Just carefully selected ingredients, traditional soapmaking, and a LOT of patience.

This batch was made in February and cured for 8 months. And trust me, the transformation is worth watching.

55 handmade soaps. One very cute Excel sheet. And a very happy soap maker. 🥹🧼

This order came all the way from the USA and honestly… I had a little sit-and-stare-at-the-screen moment.

Because behind these 55 soaps is something much bigger than an order.

TRUST…

After Dosa, Grape Pachadi and Gajar ka Halwa, I thought it was time to bring you something completely different.

Something traditional.
Something simple.
Something I’ve been patiently waiting months to share.

ALEPPO SOAP. 🫒🌿

Made with Extra Virgin Olive Oil + Bay Laurel Oil, this is my take on one of the oldest traditional soapmaking traditions from Aleppo, Syria.

And yes, I went slightly crazy with the details. 😂

I sourced extra virgin, edible-grade olive oil that I genuinely loved, made this batch back in February, and even got a custom Arabic Aleppo stamp made because I wanted the bar to feel connected to its roots.

I believe good soap doesn’t need 27 fancy ingredients.

Sometimes, tradition gets it right.
