I’ve been creating something and I am so excited to share with you! 🌸

Flower Folk is a space for people to gather, learn about and celebrate the beauty of plants, while building meaningful connections and community.

Through in person workshops, retreats and events I hope to inspire creativity, revive old traditions, spread plant knowledge and build community 🌼

I believe that when we reconnect with nature and with one another, we create positive change in the world.

The link to my website where you can find out more is in my bio. I so hope you will join me and share in the magic of plants 🌼🍓

Looking back to the last @flowerfolk__ Herbal Medicine Making workshop 🌸

What a beautiful morning it was! Connecting with plants and people 💛 Learning the botany, folklore and medicinal benefits of seasonal, foraged herbs.
We made herbal teas and healing creams. There was Meadowsweet cake and cold glasses of Meadowsweet cordial too.

I would love for you to join a Flower Folk workshop. There are a few coming up this Summer:
~ Summer Foraging, Sat 25th July
~ Herbal Medicine Making, Sat 1st August
~ Natural Dyeing, 15th August

All workshops are held under the shade of a tree in the beautiful @king_johns_nursery gardens.

If you have any questions at all, please do message me and to book your place, visit my website (link in bio).

Hot Spiced Rosehip Drink 🌹✨

So not only is this drink abductions, it also happens to be perfect for boosting your immune system and warding off those cold and flus that crop up (very unwelcome 🫣) in the colder months.

Feel free to the recipe and share with someone who you think might like it too 💛✨

RECIPE:
1. Peel and chop a thumb of ginger
2. Add ginger, 3 cloves, 2 star anise, 2 good glugs of Rosehip syrup and 2 cups of water to a pan
3. Warm gently on a low heat
4. Pour into a mug and enjoy 💛

Ps, I posted a recipe for a Rosehip syrup last week so feel free to use that too.

Stay warm and cosy. Xx by @isobel_spence

🌰🤎 Middle- October

Life has felt beautifully full lately. Colder evenings have meant lighting fires in a new little home that feels like a deluxe treehouse. Bowls of warm porridge to fuel foraging adventures. Precious time spent with family and friends. Preparing for this weekends herbal medicine workshop ✨

I have been so enjoying slowing down lately and taking pressure off trying to do quite so many things all at once.

Wishing you all a peaceful mid-October too. I hope it is filled with so much joy. Xx by @isobel_spence

This time last year, travelling through valleys of gold. Aspen, wide open roads and the sun rising behind snow capped peaks.

The mountains of Colorado blew my mind and heart wide open. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I’ve never seen Autumn (or should I say, Fall) colour quite like it. 💛 by @isobel_spence

Apple, Almond, Olive Oil Cake 🍏

Does anyone else feel like apple cake is synonymous with Autumn? It seems to encapsulate all the loveliness of the season.

This cake is light, warming, almondy and a little bit spicy. It just so happens to be GF, DF too. ✨ I’ve been having it warm for breakfast with a dollop of coconut yogurt, fruit and almond butter. But it would be equally as delish with ice cream for pudding etc.

Anyway, let me know if you make it! Have a beautiful weekend. All love. Xx by @isobel_spence

~ Rosehip Syrup ~ ❤️

A tasty floral, apple-like syrup that’s rich in Vitamin C, preventing cold & flus and promotes collagen production! Delicious on porridge and pancakes! 🥞

Let me know if you make it! Have a beautiful weekend. All love. Xx

RECIPE ~

Ingredients : 500g Rosehips : 250 g caster sugar (can adapt recipe in 2:1 ratio)

Method :
1. Remove tops and stems from the Rosehips. Then add them to a food processor and blitz until fine or chop into little pieces.
2. Add to a saucepan with 600ml water and bring to boil. Simmer for 15-20 mins.
3. Strain through a muslin and sieve and leave for 30 mins so all juice runs through.
4. Add in sugar and gently heat to dissolve.
5. Pour into clean jars, seal closed and label. Enjoy!

A Hop and Rosemary Autumn wreath 🤎

You might think me bonkers but I truly believe that working with herbs in craft is a form of herbal medicine too ✨ does anyone else think this? Or just me? Let me know in the comments!

Have a little watch of the reel to learn about the medicinal benefits of hops and rosemary! 🌿

Save this reel if you’d like to make a hop wreath yourself and share with someone you’d like to spend a cosy day making one with 🤎

O A K 🌳

I know I say this almost every time, but this article really was so much fun to write! Growing up in an area dense with ancient woodland, Oaks have been omnipresent guardians throughout my life - I like to think of them as grandparents. Kind, wise and reassuringly solid. They wear their age with pride, each wrinkled crevice a badge of honour.

If you’d like to hear more about the botany, a folk story, the medicinal benefits and much more of Oak - I invite you to make yourself a cup of tea and head over to my Substack 🤎 The link is in my bio.

All love. Xx
