If there was one thing Don Julio González loved, it was bringing people together around a table.

A few years ago, I was simply chasing a dream behind a bar in México.

Today, I’m sharing the story of my country, my traditions, and the craftsmanship of tequila with an incredible community in India.

Last Friday, I had the honor of bringing that spirit to my very first Community Table in Delhi, India.

For me, this wasn’t just an event. It was my way of saying, “Mi casa es tu casa.” Sharing a small piece of Mexico through our traditions, our culture, and, of course, a glass of Tequila Don Julio.

Thank you to the incredible hospitality community of Indian bartenders, bar owners, friends, and everyone who joined us for making me feel so welcome. Every conversation, every smile, and every toast reminded me why I love what I do.

To my Diageo Indian family, thank you for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to represent not only an extraordinary tequila, but also the values and traditions behind it.

And to the amazing team at Lair, thank you for all your support in making this experience possible.

Because at the end of the day, tequila isn’t just about what’s in the glass. It’s about the people around the table.

This is only the beginning, I have a new family in India!

Muhammad Ali afirmaba que "los campeones no se forjan en gimnasios, están moldeados por una esencia inmaterial que nace en lo más hondo de su ser. Es un deseo, un sueño, una visión". Su mensaje toca mi alma y hoy, a través de estas palabras, deseo compartir con ustedes una historia que lleva la misma esencia de campeón.

Hace exactamente dos años, en estos mismos días de Mayo del 2021, un joven practicante cruzó el umbral de nuestra amada CASA PRUNES. A punto de culminar su diplomado de coctelería y destilados en la entrañable UMM, buscaba cumplir las horas de práctica que le exigía su escuela. Su sueño, el mío en aquel entonces, era formar parte de otro bar. Aunque por avatares del destino no se logró, el universo me llevó al encuentro con uno de los creadores de ese maravilloso bar apenas un mes después.
Fueron cuatro intensos meses de práctica, muy por encima de las 60 horas requeridas por la escuela. Pero ¿quién cuenta las horas cuando estás viviendo tu pasión? Cada día, atravesaba cinco horas de viaje desde mi pueblito en el Estado de México hasta PRUNES, incluso en medio de la pandemia. Mis gastos los sufragaba con la venta de mojitos y margaritas en el rústico bar que hice en casa de mis padres, bautizado con cariño como "POLLITOS BAR" por los amigos de mi pueblo.

Hoy, dos años después, mi corazón rebosa de gratitud.

World Class, esa competencia que la mayoría de nosotros, los bartenders, anhelamos y soñamos, ha sido mi primer gran desafío. No puedo más que agradecer a mis hermanos de CASA PRUNES, sin su apoyo esto no hubiera sido posible. Gracias a mis mentores, mi apá y mi Coshi Hermoso, por guiarme en este camino lleno de aprendizajes. Quién lo diría, hace un año yo era barback de Jimmy, quien al final de esa en la competencia de fue el campeón, hoy Jimmy me entrega en mis manos el trofeo como nuevo campeón.

Pero lo más hermoso de todo, lo más emotivo, ha sido compartir este viaje con mis dos hermanitos: Duque bonito y mi gran maestro del alma, el Muchachito.

En palabras de Don Julio González, "Nunca dejes de soñar". Este es el mantra que me impulsa y espero, inspire también a cada uno de ustedes.

Tequila Don Julio was a proud partner of the Governors Ball, the @theacademy ‘s official party following the 96th Oscars ceremony on March 10, 2024. It was the epitome of celebration so it’s only appropriate to embrace the night with luxury cocktails

This year, I was collaborating with the globally acclaimed bartender @charlesjoly to bring the flavors of modern Mexico into this year’s cocktail offerings.

And of course next to wonderful people from whom I learned a lot in this wonderful experience @destineealmonte @liquidpimp thank you so much mi nueva familia. 🥰
