This DIT is run in partnership with Fierce Festival @fiercefestival x performance, possession + automation.

Sym Stellium @symstellium will host workshops across three days exploring site-specific, intuitive and ritual-based performance practice.

This DIT will feel through Birmingham’s entanglements with imperialism and colonialism – and how our individual dis/connection to spaces in the city can inform our artistic practices and attempts toward liberation and collectivity.

📆 Tues 28 - Thurs 30 July

Deadline to apply: Mon 23 Feb, 6pm

‐------------------‐-

Do It Together (DIT) is a peer-to-peer professional development programme that enables artists to explore ideas, aesthetics and sociopolitical realities together.

Knowing that the development of a live art practice is as much about methodologies and experiences as training in skills and techniques, DIT invites artists to delve into collective enquiries and share their process.

DIT reimagines LADA’s flagship programme, DIY, which ran unique professional development projects BY artists FOR artists from 2002 to 2020. For 2026, LADA reactivates the programme as Do It Together (DIT) in line with our renewed focus on co-learning.

ITCH. THROWBACK

'Untitled LAMENT' (2024)

Conceptualised and performed by Pablo Pakula @pablopakula

"Like many of us, I have been deeply preoccupied with ideas of 'the end' and climate collapse for some time. This piece is an extract of what I think would be a longer work. It is a kind of future lament, a song for after the collapse, a kind of exorcism that might hopefully help to begin processing our climate anxiety and grief. The work deliberately doesn't seek to offer hope or solutions, but instead asks the audience to acknowledge and sit in our shared solastalgia (a word to describe a form of emotional or existential distress caused by environmental change). Interested in funerial traditions of keening, this will be the first time that my work features a live song".

Feeling through this piece this week, as we watch current events unfold. More throwbacks to come with pieces by @lizrord

ELLE FIERCE @ellellle

Showing her work 'GIRLS OF A FEATHER'
AN EXPLORATION OF FLUID, FLIGHT AND TRANSGRESSIVE TRANSFORMATION.

ELLE FIERCE (she/they) is a performance and visual artist based in Berlin & London.

Her work speaks to the complexities and nuances within the tropes of Transness, Queerness and Blackness.

FIERCE seeks to amplify these underrepresented voices within mainstream discourse and artistic spheres including elements of dance, speech, video work and DJ’ing, blurring the lines between performance experience and audience participation. Approaching performance from an intersectional perspective, FIERCE attempts to present alternate possibilities for connection and radical solidarity as an opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of our bodies.

FIERCE works have been presented at WUK Vienna, Southbank centre London, ADKDW Cologne, Tanz Pavilion Hannover, Molt Gallery Berlin among others and is currently artist in residence at Raze Collective London.

Liz Ord @lizrord with Nafeesa Hamid
Showing their new piece 'Best Foot Forward'

Liz Ord is a performance and costume artist whose work focuses on the surreal. They spent their early career in fashion, methodically playing out make-believe scenarios on and off runways. The fantasies that feed consumption have bled into their current work, which explores the lines, between fabrication and reality; whimsy, fun and fear.
Liz's work has been featured with Fierce Festival, Shout Festival, The MAC, Warwick Arts Centre, and The VNA. Their clothing has been showcased in publications such as Twin Magazine and Re-Edition Magazine, and their designs have been worn on red carpets during London Fashion Week (LFW). Liz has also creatively collaborated with Gucci.

Nafeesa (b. Azad Kashmir 1993, bred in Brum) is a multi disciplinary poet and educator. They enjoy walking and petting animals

itch. throwbacks: Niya B @niya___b 🪴

'Something about bodies, plants and machines
Something between low tech and high tech
Something lying on the ground and something coming in storms
Something burning and something cooling
A ritual of dance and stillness'

Niya B is a multi-disciplinary artist, working at the intersections of visual art and performance.
