Hamtramck, MI 📷 9.2026.

I’m forcing myself to use a camera I don’t like. I hardly ever use it because I feel I’ve outgrown it. But what if it’s a f u n camera? Not fussy, not fancy, yet capable.

It’s challenging my ideas on equipment verse artistic capacity.

I heard a quote that said “creativity means to work around constraints”.

So the camera and my mindset are the constraints I seek to overcome.

It’s been a fun learning experience 🖤 taken in Hamtramck, Michigan by @itsabrething

Walking down the street and heard music. It was in the direction of my path so I followed.

I walked past folks and a DJ posted outside. I looked in the window and the glow of warm light drew me inside…stopped me in my tracks. I could not pass up on this side quest.

As I pulled out my camera, it dawned on me I had this spot saved in my “places to go” list - @thriftourcafe

Somehow by chance, with no plans or recollection of its locality, I ended up there. I felt a sense of gratitude for my good fortune.

And what a treat it was to step foot inside such a beautiful space. The decor, sexy lighting, thrift-able goodies, and relaxed yet engaged patrons felt like a big hug.

There’s definitely love and intentionality all over the place. I shall return there soon 🧡 taken in Detroit, Mi by @itsabrething
