I’ve found it hard to post much here since the shock of loosing my amazing dad. I saw this today and it literally sums up so much from the past two years of my life. Thanks to those who have stuck by me through the worst …..and never given up on me even when I’m terrible at replying and showing up🤍

Today I’m putting on real clothes and makeup as I’m attending a medical lecture as guest speaker at Sheffield Hallam University.

I’ve found the past few weeks really hard, grief has no plan & it comes back to whack you in the face often. Trying to manage life and everything that’s been going on has been overwhelming I’ve really wanted to back out so many times ...but I’m putting my best professional face on and sharing our story.

It’s so hard & triggering to relive that day, to explain just how unjust and devastating ...yet preventable August’s death was. Talking about the darkest days in hospital and when we first got home without August... it’s impossible to get it all out even vaguely eloquently. But awareness of this infection has to be made. It’s not ok to ignore it anymore NHS. My care was unacceptable & I want midwives and doctors to know. It’s disgusting that the government doesn’t take GBS & the signs of the infection seriously and I will never give up fighting for change.

Every time I feel scared I think of our little August, already moving mountains . All the people she has helped, the lives she has saved and how this lecture could help save more lives in the next generation. And that spurs me on to bare my soul to a room full of strangers. We want everyone to know her name 🤍
