THANK YOU ❤️

I’m feeling very overwhelmed by the amount of love and support I received this week during PYDANCE’s residency in partnership with @tennesseepac. This caption doesn’t even begin to explain the emotions running through me, but here we go anyway. Thank you to everyone who came, thank you to everyone who made this show happen, and most importantly thank you to my PYDANCE dancers for being my ally in taking the company to new heights. GOD’S COUNTRY is an original PYDANCE production, portraying the “American horror story” described by the band, Chat Pile (@chatpileband), and their awareness of neglect and ignorance towards humanitarian issues that spread throughout the United States. Based on Chat Pile’s album, this production presents a movement-based adaptation of Pile’s intent of “trying to capture the anxiety and fear of seeing the world fall apart.” The work represents elements of grief, fear and anger from society’s apathy towards homelessness and mental illness. Through the lens of the blistering, dark noise that Chat Pile’s album produces, PYDANCE conveys beauty and grace behind the walls of distortion while reflecting their message of social consciousness and awareness.

Asia Pyron is the Moon Goddess in The Fire Cycle: Stone Sutra, premiering on @allartstv April 21.

Originally from Atlanta, GA, Asia received her early training at Interlochen Arts Academy and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee where she earned her BFA. She is the founder and director of the Nashville dance ensemble PYDANCE @_pydance_ . With them, Asia has received grants and residencies, including the Brave New Works Lab at @ozartsnashville , the Metro Arts THRIVE grant @metroartsnash , South Arts Cross Sector Impact Grant, @kindlingartsfest , @southartsorg , and much more.

Asia has been commissioned as a guest artist at institutions and companies such as Tennessee Performing Arts Center, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts @uncsa , Boston Conservatory at Berklee @bostonconservatory , Nolte Academy, DanceLab NY @dancelabny and @urbanitydance . Her recent pieces include the incredible “Murder of Crows” (I saw every performance at Kindling), featuring Fire Cycle friends @spencerjgrady @becca_hoback @phyliciaroybal and @_lenin , and “God’s Country,” an intense work choreographed to the music of @chatpileband .
