"Epazote iuan xochimej".

Embroidered cyanotype using various stitching techniques. Bridging together art and tactile use of Indigenous medicinal herbs and plants.

Originally, I wanted to crochet a picot stitch border with beads, but it was hard to figure out.

A part of a residency in conjunction with El Museo del Barrio @elmuseo in Harlem and Endangered Language Alliance @elalliance.

"What sustains Us / Nechkokoa"....

Embroidered cyanotype with a beaded edge. Depicting various herbs used in Southern Indigenous medicine including cuachalalate, damiana, pelo de elote, huazontle, papalo and epazote.

I started this specific piece about a year and a half ago and while I was close to finishing it, my mental state plummeted. In that state, I was unable to create or complete any projects. Originally I had planned to name the piece differently but with the experience of the past year, I find this title to be more apt. Cant wait to delve more into my practice this year now that my mind is free of any lingering clouds. by @itsbywillie

This year so far has been crazy turbulent and eerily silent at the same time. Capturing joy in the moments between is essential. NYC is buzzing with life this summer and so am I. Some moments captured in between the buzz and silence. Love my friends 💜 by @itsbywillie

For some reason I have a fascination with birds. Maybe I imagine myself as one of them. Able to fly wherever, go whenever, be whoever. I love the freedom that the birds represent and how vast they are. I've been drawing them so much lately. Maybe I picture myself being as free as the birds. To be unburdened. Wouldn't it be cool to just...be? by @itsbywillie
