As a Chicano playwright that has long seen the injustices being committed against our communidades, I wrote Mis Escritos as a reminder that we have a voice, body and an imagination that can be used to fight back. This story doesn’t ask you to rise above injustice or turn the other cheek. It asks how much sufrimientowe are willing to take before we rise up, and to be honest mi gente, we have taken far too much to not have already. Mis Escritos is a reminder. An alarm. A wake-up call. It speaks to the present day for so many of us, in ways that we wish it wouldn’t. So, join us for a week of necessary theatre that you won’t soon forget.
