Thank you to everyone who came to watch @mis.escritos.theplay I’m so humbled to walk away with these memories. It was an honor to have played Julian Cruz Jr. and like any character I’ll carry a piece of you forever. I couldn’t do it without the support of cast mates, stagehands, coaches, friends, faith and my family. An original piece by @itsangelmlopez #misescritos #teatro #theater

We follow the stories of two familias in South Central Los Angeles who are dealing with widespread state-sanctioned violence and oppression, experiencing firsthand how the youth of these families are using their voice and their art to fight back and resist. As a Chicano playwright that has long seen the injustices being committed against our communidades, I wrote Mis Escritos as a reminder that we have a voice, body and an imagination that can be used to fight back. This story doesn’t ask you to rise above injustice or turn the other cheek. It asks how much sufrimientowe are willing to take before we rise up, and to be honest mi gente, we have taken far too much to not have already. Mis Escritos is a reminder. An alarm. A wake-up call. It speaks to the present day for so many of us, in ways that we wish it wouldn’t. So, join us for a week of necessary theatre that you won’t soon forget.
