🌿 Trading “perfect” for “present” in our 30s

The middle is where a lot of us disappear.

Not because we don’t want the life we said we wanted.

But because perfectionism taught us that if the progress isn’t obvious, impressive, or Instagram-worthy… maybe it doesn’t count.

So we stop.

But the middle is where the life actually gets built.

—> It’s repetitive.
—> It’s awkward.
—> It’s sometimes deeply unimpressive.

And unfortunately, there is usually no inspirational soundtrack playing while you’re in it. 😂

The goal isn’t to love every second of the process.

Sometimes the win is simply refusing to abandon yourself because you’re not at the finish line yet.

🌿 Show up tired.
🌿 Show up unsure.
🌿 Show up imperfectly.

Because consistency doesn’t start when you finally become disciplined enough.

It starts the moment you decide that imperfect effort still counts.

So if you’ve been waiting until you feel more motivated, more confident, more prepared, more healed, or more “ready”…

this is your reminder:

You are allowed to build the life you want while still becoming the person who knows how to hold it.

What are you choosing to show up for imperfectly this week? 🤎

Showing up every morning until it sticks sounds simple… until you’re actually the one trying to build the habit.

Some mornings you’re motivated. Some mornings you’re tired. Some mornings you do the bare minimum and still wonder if it “counts.”

A little secret… It does. 🤎

One of the hardest parts of unlearning perfectionism is accepting that consistency does not always look impressive. It can look repetitive, boring, unfinished, and very ordinary.

But that’s usually where the change is happening.

❌ Not in the perfect morning routine.
❌ Not in the dramatic reset.
❌ Not in the week where you suddenly become a completely different person.

In the small things you keep coming back to.

—> The skincare.
—> The water.
—> The walk.
—> The journal.
—> The ten minutes before the day starts asking things from you.

If you’re rebuilding routines in your 30s, learning self-trust, or trying to become more consistent without burning yourself out, don’t underestimate the power of repetition.

You do not need to love the habit yet.

You just need to keep meeting yourself there long enough for it to become familiar.

What’s one small morning habit you’re trying to make stick right now? 🤎 by @itschris.alexis

I’m 37 and I’m realizing adulthood doesn’t come with the clarity I thought it would.

And maybe that’s not a failure.

Maybe it means we’re allowed to keep learning ourselves in real time.

—> To change our minds.
—> To ask better questions.
—> To build a life that fits who we are now, not who we thought we had to become.

Some days adulthood feels confusing because we’re doing things we were never really taught how to do.

• Managing money.
• Building confidence.
• Maintaining routines.
• Choosing ourselves.
• Starting over without making it mean we failed.

So if your 30s don’t look as clear, polished, or settled as you imagined, you’re not behind.

You’re just honest about where you are.

And beloved, that might be the most grown thing about you.

I thought 37 would come with more answers.

How I’d be better with money, fully confident in my body, crystal clear on kids, career, identity, and magically consistent with the habits I keep saying matter to me.

Cute theory.

Turns out, adulthood is less “having it all figured out” and more “realizing everyone is improvising, but some people are better at acting.”

So here’s the honest version: I’m 37, still figuring a lot out, and somehow that feels embarrassing and freeing at the same time.

Which one felt a little too personal?

At 37, I’m realizing that building a life you actually like is more important than building one for others.

Not every good thing in your life needs to look ambitious. It can be as simple as:

🌿 A comfortable home
🌿 A hobby only you know about
🌿 Your favorite meal
🌿 Taking off on a random Tuesday just because
🌿 Showing for yourself even when no one else is watching

As a recovering perfectionist, I spent a lot of time believing happiness would start after my next milestone.

👉🏾 After I got more disciplined
👉🏾 After I reached the goal
👉🏾 After I became the girl I’m proud of

But your life is not waiting in the future.

It is happening in the ordinary moments you keep rushing past.

So if you’re rebuilding your life in your 30s, learning to slow down, choosing peace, or trying to enjoy your life without needing to prove anything first, this is your reminder:

A life doesn’t have to be extraordinary to be one you’re grateful to wake up to.

💭 Which one of these lessons are you learning right now?

Finding peace in your late 30s looks a lot different than I thought it would.

I used to think success meant being busy, productive, social, accomplished, and constantly chasing the next thing.

Now? I understand Juanita from Baby Boy sitting in her tomato garden on a spiritual level.

A peaceful home. A slower routine. Something growing in the backyard. Bills paid. Good food. Good people. Less noise.

And judging by how many people related to that Threads post, I know I’m not the only woman in her 30s redefining what a happy life actually looks like.

Maybe this stage of adulthood is less about becoming more impressive and more about creating a life that finally feels good to live in.

Turns out, the soft life might just be peace, privacy, and a few tomatoes.

Loving people well is not the same thing as keeping everybody close.

That lesson took me longer than I’d like to admit.

At 37, I’m learning that love can show up in many forms, patterns, and connections.

Which lesson about loving people took you the longest to learn?

Apparently “locking in” to me is just disappearing before I even try with this PMP exam. 😂

After spending weeks avoiding my PMP study plan, I suddenly had 10 days to learn everything my brain had been politely ignoring.

But the truth finally found me and I had to make one of the toughest decision of my life.

Preparation over pride, right?

See you in the finale episode next week! 💛

Deleting your Stan Store and digital products is the opposite that most gurus will tell you to do.

But as we are building trust and authenticity with each other, selling something I’m not even doing seems… icky.

Self-trust is not blindly believing every thought you have.

It’s trusting yourself enough to take action before the plan is perfect, make a decision without polling the entire group chat, and survive the possibility of being wrong.

At 37, I’m learning that trusting myself means knowing I won’t abandon myself when things get messy.

Which lesson are you currently learning the hard way?
