Six months ago my ankle finally got fixed which means six months of recovery to figure out what I’m doing next. Spoiler…I still have no idea what my next chapter holds…BUT during these six months I’ve started living again. 💃🏻🪩🎀
My health while still unstable has been much more managed after receiving a diagnosis confirming I have a hypermobility disorder. (explains the 3 hip, 2 knee, shoulder, and ankle surgeries)🩼⚕️
I went back to school (kind of) and got my paralegal certification from The University of Georgia which my Nana encouraged before she passed last March. ❤️🤍
Both of my grandfathers unfortunately passed in the last six months and grief has weighed heavy on my heart 💔
I reconnected with old friends and met some new family, even saw a few of them face to face instead of a FaceTime. 👯‍♀️👯‍♀️
Biggest of all I was able to travel again!!! 🛩️🌸
A few delays and cancellations aside, I got to go to New York and my mama came with me for a short part of my trip. 🌆
Together we saw three Broadway shows, ate some really good food, and adventured through the Museum of Broadway 🎭
On my own I saw an additional seven shows, admired beautiful art at the MoMA, toured the city, caught up with some friends including a couple childhood friends I haven’t seen in AT LEAST a decade, and ultimately felt like myself for the first time in a long time.🌟💖
Life looks a whole lot different than I ever imagined it would at 27, but if using a walker (especially when traveling), doing weekly IV infusions, and whatever else makes things easier for me to live my life without continuously suffering like I have been, I am more than happy to do so. 💁🏻‍♀️🫶🏻🪩
And I’m even happier to be done dealing with a workers comp injury that happened in 2021 💃🏻🎉 taken in New York City by @itsericamarywright

My sweet beautiful Nana, Linda Faye Butler Carlisle passed in her sleep surrounded by her family on March 13th after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. She was the strongest, fiercest, most incredible, kind-hearted, fun-loving woman I knew. She was the perfect model of sass, style, and spontaneity, a combination I only dream of achieving to her standard. She inspired me and filled my life with love, joy, support, and laughter for 26 years. I’ll miss your goofy faces, eyebrow raises, sweet smiles, and hand squeezes. All the time we had could never be enough but I’ll cherish our memories for the rest of my lifetime. How sweet to have love that makes saying goodbye so impossible. I love you forever Nana 💔🪽🕊️

i don’t even know how to start this post honestly. last night was so full of love and support and i’m still processing it.
it’s been a year since @tashalitas started putting Give Me An A together. And last night we celebrated its release at the Aero in LA. thank you @xyzfilms for believing in our film and releasing it with us.
I’m truly struggling to find the words to describe what this film means to me and what i know it means to so many people out there. im sure i’ll have plenty of other things i wanted to say but i’m just so astounded by this film and how many people put immense amounts of work into it.
standing next to so many talented, strong, passionate, inspiring women will never be something i take for granted. i’m in awe of all of you.
thank you to everyone who has already watched it and supported this film. my heart is so so full 🩶
please watch and review and tell everyone you know to do the same. ♥️

There are so many feelings and emotions that come anytime we screen Give Me An A.
Renegade Film Festival came with so much more than any other for me, because I came home. To Marietta, Georgia. I watched a film that I and so many other beautiful people put so much love and work into at a theater I grew up going to see shows at with my family. And they came to see it. I was back in Marietta Square all weekend where I performed Christmas shows with my first dance studio as a kid and all I could think about was what little Erica would say if she saw me now. It is beyond surreal to be back in my hometown once again sharing my heart and soul and creative expression. And for it to be seen and loved and appreciated.
There are so many words I have to say yet none of them feel like enough to encapsulate all that I feel right now.
Our film won TWO awards last night. Best Writing and Best Feature.
Thank you and congratulations Annie Bond for writing such an incredible personal story and allowing me to be part of it.
And thank you Natasha Halevi for allowing so many women to have voices and use our voices in this way for such an important purpose.
I am overwhelmed and honored and grateful and thankful.
All my love and respect to everyone involved in making this film as well as everyone who has supported us and will support us as we continue to share this film ♥️ taken in Strand Marietta by @itsericamarywright

the timing is right and you’ve waited for so long💕

it’s been exactly two years to the day since @jeremy__stewart and i got on a phone call to talk through the script i wrote in two hours and sent to him for his thoughts hoping he’d want to direct it….and he did so here we are the perfect day to drop the trailer.
