A shout out to my girl @heidi_border from the @alo in @suburbansquare She is the best and so is her team. They are awesome and always let me know when something I will love is about to arrive.

52. First real modeling attempt. Here’s the truth.

I’m a wife. A mother to three. A daughter to a dad with Parkinson’s and dementia. I run a nonprofit @heatherswaynonprofit that’s put over $1.5M toward people rebuilding their lives after treatment. Every one of those roles asks me to give — not a little, a lot, and I do it because I choose to.

This is different. This is the one thing I’m doing that isn’t for anyone else. Not my kids, not my husband, not my dad, not the mission. Just me, deciding at 52 that I still get to try something new and be scared doing it. I started to look into this with help from @next_chapter_collective_ and @adriennearieff

I’ve noticed not everyone loves that. I don’t fully understand it, but I’ve stopped needing to. This isn’t a midlife crisis. It’s a woman who spends her life pouring into others, keeping one cup for herself.

If that’s uncomfortable for you to watch, I get it. It was uncomfortable for me to start.

I’ve been slacking a little bit. Last week was a big week for me coming off the back end of the big fundraiser for @heatherswaynonprofit that doesn’t mean I haven’t been getting up and getting dressed. It just means I haven’t been filming. I wore this last night for my second birthday dinner. It was delightful. I went out with my family and I felt like a queen!
The shirt is vintage from @msmalena
The purse is my fav little black bag from @shopskirt @littleliffner that the gorgeous @nikolettaliappis told me I needed. She was right.
The pants at @sportmax and the heels are @maisonalaia both from @therealreal

Update… yep I know there are a couple of typos. And today I know that is OK and yes, I tried to fix them. 🤣🤣🤣

I didn’t hit bottom in one dramatic moment. I just kept going until I found the right door.

For me it was Al-Anon. I learned I couldn’t fix anyone else, and that I’d spent my whole life running from myself.

More than 17 years ago, my husband got sober for good. For the first time, I had room to bet on myself.

So I did. I started a floral business, the first thing I’d ever done outside my home. I had a thriving business, an amazing team and created something to be very proud of. I hired young people who were newly sober. When Covid shut everything down, I couldn’t hire anyone, so I started a nonprofit in addition to Argyle

@heatherswaynonprofit has now raised over $1.7 million, with no paid staff, to help people start over after treatment.

The girl who felt stupid and unseen now gets to help people feel seen.

If you’re in a hard chapter right now, it isn’t your whole story. And thank you to everyone who has been part of mine.

And at 52¾, I signed with @reinhardagency and took one more risk. Modeling comes with a crazy amount of rejection. But I’m so comfortable in my skin now that it doesn’t touch me. I’m doing this for me.

If you know me, you know, I will not post something unless I actually like it. That’s exactly what I told the marketing team @seacret when they reached out to me. I was honest, I said if I don’t like the product, I will not review it because I don’t believe in posting something negative, but I also said I would not post a review that’s positive unless I really loved it. Guess what? I really love it! I will also post the code and on my story for 20% off

I could not be more proud of this project! Anyone who knows me knows I am a creative through and through. Anything that is a word problem, having to do a special awareness and technical computer work is not for me. But I really really wanted a new website for. @heatherswaynonprofit
It wasn’t in the cards financially, because putting that much money into a project means less money into helping our beautiful friends who are just trying to get a hand up on their recovery journey. So I took it upon myself to figure it out and work with @claudeai
Hours upon hours later. Like 10 to 12 Total we got it done. Please take the time to scroll through our new website. It’s pretty special. I still have work to do some I’s to dot and T’s to cross, but for now it’s pretty awesome

Popped into @mainlineshift in Narberth today at Kimberly’s invitation to try on and style some of their upcycled clothing, and Kimberly, the owner, is amazing. The work she’s doing here is so necessary. 🌎

I first landed here for their upcycled pop-up clothing event several months ago, only to discover I could get all of my clean, earth-friendly products for the home and body in one place. They’ll fill your own containers, or you can grab one of their upcycled or recycled ones. We love everything we’ve gotten, and we have completely made the shift (pun intended). ♻️

Beyond the clean products for your home, they carry upcycled home goods, clothing, jewelry, glassware, and all kinds of knickknacks. Just really neat things.

This is a two-part video. Part two is so long because I talked through the whole thing and couldn’t speed it up. Whoops!

As the name says, it’s all about a shift. You don’t have to change everything at once. A small shift can really impact our earth.
