POSTS STORIES REELS

I’ve wanted to share this journey for a long time, but never fully committed to it.

We’re two years into building our homestead, and honestly there’s still so much we’re figuring out. Some dreams have happened already, some are still in progress, and some days we’re just trying our very best.

Welcome to Episode 1 of Building Lago Farm. Follow along for the good, the bad, the funny moments, and everything in between.

Sometimes I have to remind myself that little me would be in complete shock seeing the life we get to live now. I never really grew up traveling, so seeing places I only imagined before still feels unreal sometimes.

The pumpkin patch has officially closed at our homestead, but one of the perks is having extra food for our animals. Dwayne was first on the delivery list, and he absolutely devoured his first pumpkin. didn’t help carry it, but definitely helped make it disappear.

Minni grew up with our ducks, so she’s used to having them around. But the second a chicken gets out of the coop, she chases them. This one ran and hid. Internet friends, what’s your theory? Why does she have beef with chickens but not ducks?

We can’t find Jon Snow, our only Silkie. After everything we’ve dealt with this year, I’m scared the fox got him, but we don’t know what happened. I know losing chickens can be part of farm life. This one just really hurts. I loved that chicken.

One thing I learned from turning part of our homestead into a photography business is that building a pretty space is only half of it.

When we first opened the Greenhouse, we didn’t even have a separate restroom for guests, which meant people occasionally had to use the one inside our house. Definitely not something we wanted to keep doing.

So we added our Kubo, which has honestly become one of the most useful spaces on the property. It’s a restroom, a little farm shop, and even doubles as a photo op spot.

It was another big investment, but one that made so much sense for the experience we’re trying to create here.

There are certain things about owning ducks that nobody prepares you for, and this was definitely one of them 😭😂

I swear we were just minding our business.

So apparently we’ve found a way to keep Minni from sneaking outside for the beautyberries 😂

After her escape, Justin cut some branches and brought them inside the property so she could enjoy them without trying to make another run for it.

I thought I’d sit outside and help her eat some, but let’s just say this bird does not need my assistance lol.

At least the duckies got to enjoy some of the leftovers too.

I swear Minni finds a new way to stress me out every single dayyy

This time she somehow made her way outside our property because she discovered the beautyberries growing on the other side of the fence.

Normally I wouldn’t be too worried about her wandering around the farm, but we have cars passing by outside, so obviously I had to get her back in before she decided to explore any further.

And of course, getting her to cooperate was a whole different story 🙄

Well, Jiji apparently remembered what happened last time and decided he wasn’t putting up with Minni’s nonsense again

Kiki wanted absolutely no part of the drama, and honestly, I don’t blame him lol.

Meanwhile, I’m just in the background yelling at everybody like usual. Story of my life lol

Okay so here’s the update on our little chicken pumpkin carving experiment!

I gave them a few days to work on their masterpieces and finally went out to see how they did. Let’s just say I don’t think all of them understood the assignment lol.

Would you let your chickens carve your pumpkins?
