Buzzin’ to have been interviewed for MEGA MEGA a new immersive exhibition exploring Romford’s legacy in electronic music and rave culture - from rave & jungle to garage & drum n bass 🔊

This old market town in Essex was a hotbed of creativity in the ’90s with everyone from @underworld to the legendary @suburbanbaserecs emerging from that part of the world.

Some of my records and flyers will be on display alongside audio snippets of me reminiscing about those halcyon days - going to raves and buying records at Boogie Times - a central hub of the rave scene and its music at the time.

Big shout to @kathgreenphoto for getting me involved, @puredannydonnelly for being central to it all and @djhype_playaz — Shot in the Dark was the first record I bought on Sub Base at Boogie Times and it sparked a lifelong passion for the sound and culture.

To be able to share these memories and experiences as part of an exhibition exploring what made Romford such a creative force in rave and club culture is magic. ❤️💫🔊

📍 MEGA MEGA opens 29 October at:

ATIK Romford
108 South Street
Romford
RM1 1SS

@stowhohouse appreciation post incoming…

Thank u @julietcrommers @samuelpottss for putting on another stellar night - up there with the best yet 💫

The music was spot on courtesy of #Hacienda legends @graemepark and @pickering54 the energy was ripe and the local community was out in full effect. Feel very blessed to live in this part of the world.

Captured a beaut moment when @graemepark spotted @stellacreasy in the crowd. I didn’t know she was from Manchester, and her mum taught @aguycalledgerald

They connected on stage and it was like a full circle moment amidst well trodden carpets, disco balls, and fruit machines of our beloved @tradese17

Also shout out the lovely @trafford_dj who closed the night in style 🙏🏽

SWIPE RIGHT FOR ALL THE ACTION.

Love to all. Until the next one ❤️ taken in Walthamstow, United Kingdom by @itsjimjamal

We’re still thinking about how incredible the artists were at our launch event. Wild that it was 12 days ago!

The energy in that room was unreal.

ASTR0 kicked things off and had the crowd buzzing from the first beat. Huge future incoming.

Andersol followed with pure soul and light, then jumped on the dance floor and got the whole room moving with him.

Chiara delivered vocals that stopped people mid‑conversation. Powerful, beautiful, angelic.

Shocka closed the live acts with heart, honesty and total presence. A set we’ll be talking about for a long time.

Jim Jamal opened AND closed the night with two electric DJ sets. Perfect start, perfect finish.

We can't thank you enough, @jtsjimjamal, @shocka_artist, @andersolmusic, @chiaramartinamusic and @astronomerjay.

And this is exactly why we’re doing Listen Out - bringing music and mental health together, creating spaces where people feel connected, uplifted and seen. Nights that feel good in every sense.

Still glowing. And we’re only just getting started...

Full circle moment at @listenoutnow on Thursday night…

I played a track from my time in Brazil 20 years ago and was stoked when @wearebey0nd came up to me to ask what it was - she’d been drawn to the lyrics and loved it.

The track - Be the World by @afilial_oficial is a beautiful mix of Brazilian Portuguese and English and the verse she heard was my old pal @martymartinho who was featured as a guest rapper.

It was one of those moments you see music connecting us through time and space. We found it on Spotify and she was buzzin. Check it out it’s so good.

@martymartinho I’ve ALWAYS loved this track and it’s amazing to play it all these years later and see a reaction like that ❤️🇧🇷 by @itsjimjamal

You may already know that @itsjimjamal is on the lineup, but here’s why you don’t want to miss his set at Listen Out.

Jim brings an uplifting, high‑energy sound shaped by Essex rave roots, nine years in Brazil and a deep love of house, jungle and dance. His sets aren’t just about beats, they’re about connection, movement and that feeling when the whole room locks in together.

If you were around for @jamsjam_e17 in Walthamstow, you’ll remember the community he helped build. That same spirit is coming with him to Listen Out as he helps raise awareness for mental health through the power of music.

And beyond the decks? He’s a filmmaker, a community organiser and a creative force who pours purpose into everything he does.

Want a preview of the vibe he’s bringing? 🔊 soundcloud.com/djjimjamal

Tickets are still available at listenout.org (link in bio). Join us on 10th September at @bigpennysocial come dance, connect and be part of something meaningful.

Beaut repressing for @roughtraderecords 50th anniversary of @wearedelasoul seminal album Three Feet High and Rising. (50 years of Rough Trade not the album!)

This album captured my imagination big time when it came out - the skits, the concept, the comic strips, the delivery, sampling, scratching, and of course the holy trinity - Posdnuos, Trugoy and Mace - teenagers barely out of Long Island high school.

Three really is the magic number 💫🙏🏽❤️ by @itsjimjamal
