Another race in the books! 1st place in my age group and 3rd overall! Felt super weak going into this race but I could tell that God was giving me the strength I needed the whole way through. Proud to be done with this training and glad I was able to work for and achieve my goal 🙏🏻

Super proud of @kayleeebender for not just finishing the race but finishing 1st in her age group and averaging an 8:30 pace the whole way through!! Great job baby!! ❤️ by @itsjosiahbender

This past week I had the joy of being apart of something that I will never forget! My wife and I had the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic with @victorychurchpa to partner with @mohcaribbean to support and equip the impoverished and oppressed Haitian communities living in the DR.

Our first day in the DR, we had the unique experience of completing the very first meal packing INSIDE the Dominican Republic! This will allow for meals to be packed cheaper and more efficiently than when packed inside the US. We packed 8500 meals in roughly 2 hours.

The next 4 days we spent In Villa Juga in Santiago, DR. We served a Haitian community of illegal immigrants.. If you weren’t aware, Haiti is extremely corrupt - completely run by gangs (they killed their governmental leader in 2019 and since then it’s extremely dangerous to be there). Because of that, families are fleeing to the Dominican Republic - but the DR won’t allow the Haitians in because they understandably don’t want the gang activity to enter in. So they are left with no choice but to flee and illegally enter into the DR. It’s a really bad situation and each week 10,000 Haitians are being taken back to Haiti by immigration.

During our time serving in Villa Juga, We provided clean water filters to families who couldn’t afford clean water, we held school and sports camps for students, we spent hours cleaning up trash throughout the community, we ministered door to door sharing the gospel with people living inside the homes, we prepared an afternoon to show appreciation to the mothers inside the community, we painted the local church/school building, and most importantly, we came together as a team and supported the local church and pastor.

To say that this trip opened my eyes is an understatement. I now truly understand what it means when Jesus talks about those who are oppressed and held captive. God opened my eyes to both those who are hurting around the globe as well as those who are called to full time missions.

I want to give a HUGE thank you to all of you who supported both me and my wife @kayleeebender. We are so grateful and your support went a long way! 🙏🏻 taken in Jarabacoa, Republica Dominicana by @itsjosiahbender

Half Marathon PR in the books! ⬇️

Going in to this race I was not confident AT ALL. I had been dealing with an injury in my knee/calf that had prevented me from running before this race. But, I knew that I couldn’t just quit and give it half-effort. I knew that I could either use this injury as an excuse to take it easy or I could persevere in the midst of difficulties. So, I started cycling indoors on the trainers at the gym everyday and pushed myself just as hard as I would have if I was running. My leg was sore most days and didn’t feel like it was getting better. I didn’t quit though, I kept pushing through each training session and trusted that If I did everything I could to put my best foot forward, God would meet me there. This past Wednesday I set out for a quick 2 mile run to evaluate where I was at and see how my leg was feeling. I was sore in my knee/calf for the following 12 hours and was pretty discouraged. I prayed hard and had many people around me pray for me that I’d be able to at least finish the race. Little did I know I would beat my personal record by over 8 minutes. This is a testament to God’s faithfulness… On my own I would not have been able to push through the 13.1 miles while dealing with an injury, but by the grace of God I didn’t just finish the race, I won first place overall for males and finished my HC Half-marathon career giving it everything I had. Thank you Jesus for the person that you have made me, all glory goes to you 🙌

Also… Kaylee is a BEAST!! She KILLED IT, beating her goal time by over a minute at 1:43. For anyone who doesn’t know, that means she ran 13.1 miles at a 7:43 pace. That is an INCREDIBLE time and watching her put her mind to training through the good days and the bad has been so rewarding. She has sacrificed so much to set a goal, work hard, and achieve it. I am a very proud fiancé… SOON TO BE HUSBAND IN ONE MONTH!! by @itsjosiahbender

My life is officially changed and I’m SO HAPPY about it! I knew from the day I met Kaylee that she was the right one for me! Her tender heart, her joyous spirit and her desire to see the best in people made this decision a NO BRAINER.

Kaylee had no idea that her entire family would be able to come to New York City and the video was us walking in on her family being there for her! I’m so grateful that her family was able to make it.

Kaylee, I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you ❤️❤️ taken in Central Park, New York by @itsjosiahbender

I’ve waited a while to make this post, and I know I’m a little late in doing so, but I want to share with you the journey that the Lord has taken me on over the past few years. I want to make this post not to glorify myself or anything that I have done but to glorify God in all his goodness and mercy. Clearly there has been an outward change in my appearance, but it is all a representation of what has happened on the inside. It’s impossible to show the change of heart that has happened over the past few years of my life through a picture. However, the Lord took me from a broken, food addicted, lust-filled high-schooler to a strong disciple of Christ. A few months ago I ran my first marathon and if you would have told me I would run a marathon 3 years ago I would never have believed you. Let alone, finish 2nd place overall. I still can’t comprehend just how amazing the Lord is and I am so grateful that he allowed me to and has helped me to turn my life around to live on fire for Christ. Let this post be a testimony that God can do more than we could ever imagine in our lives once we fully commit our lives to him. “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” - 2 Chronicles 16:9 by @itsjosiahbender

Expedition was a MOVIE. Literally, these photos are so good 😂 Had an amazing time running 20 miles with my team! (we may have gotten lost a few times…) We didn’t get first place, but getting to experience the physical, emotional, and mental boundaries that were broken for each person on this team was something I’d never trade for the gold medal! It was both exhausting and exhilarating at the same time and I’m so grateful to be at a college that supports and pushes us towards being the best version of ourselves.
