Before the renovations. Before the perfect house or the perfect ambiance. There was this.

A table full of food, honest conversations, belly laughs, and friendships that mean more than any of it ever could.

Drove over the hill here in Tennessee to Dolly’s home, where we could lay flowers and leave a few prayers. 🤍

I never had the chance to meet Dolly, though a little part of me always hoped I would someday. What an inspiration she was—not only to me, but to the entire world. Her music, her heart, her generosity, her light… what a legacy.

Rest in peace, beautiful Dolly. Tennessee won’t feel quite the same without you. 🕊️ by @itsklamusic

There are versions of ourselves we outgrow long before we actually let them go.

“Burn the Sage” is about finally releasing the pieces of your past that have kept you hostage—the old hurt, old patterns, old versions of yourself—and making space for something new.

Bones shake, my heart’s in a cage
Leaves my mouth speechless for days
Chest tight, tear out the page
Let you go and burn the sage.

There’s a dreamy nostalgia woven through this one—the strange feeling of being homesick for an old version of yourself, even when you know you can’t live there anymore. Mourning who you were while still feeling hopeful about the person waiting for you on the other side. Sometimes you have to burn the sage, clear the room, and see what’s left.

This one was especially fun to write and is one of our favorites from the upcoming Drugs on Sunday EP—living somewhere in that hazy space between indie folk and Americana, with a little darkness around the edges.

If you’ve ever had to let go of an old chapter to become who you’re meant to be next, hopefully this one finds you.

There are certain friendships where seeing their name light up your phone just feels like home. 🤍

“When You Call” came together so effortlessly with Jon and Brennan—one of those songs that almost felt like it wrote itself. It’s about the people who can change the whole temperature of your day with one phone call. The ones you always want to hear from, no matter how much time has passed.

So proud to have written this song alongside Jon Bryant and Brenan Aerts. It lives in that nostalgic what if—the life you might’ve lived if you’d walked through a different door, taken that trip, stayed in that city, or chosen the road you almost took.

I think we all have versions of ourselves that exist somewhere in those choices, which is why this song resonates with me on so many levels. Really proud of what we created together. 🤍 by @itsklamusic

The older I get, the more I understand myself. The way I was raised. The things I learned to do to feel loved, accepted, or safe. The ways those things followed me into adulthood and shaped how I show up in friendships and in the world.

I’ve always been someone who checks in, shows up, remembers, worries, makes the effort, and probably gives too much sometimes.

And as I get older, I’m realizing how rare and beautiful it is to have people in your life who give back. Not because you asked them to. Not because you earned it. Just because they love you, too.

I’m really grateful for the people who have stayed close to me through all the different versions of myself. The ones who have given me the same grace, effort, loyalty and love that I’ve tried to give them.

Getting older has made me a lot less interested in being liked by everyone, and a lot more grateful for the people who make me feel like I don’t have to work so hard to be loved. 💗#reflection by @itsklamusic

10 Years Ago, today, everything changed. On a dime. The greatest force to enter our world arrived with a hellacious yell and an insatiable appetite for experiencing life and all it has to offer, running said experience at the speed of an experimental military aircraft seeking a new horizon and a chic nosebleed along the way. Rhodes is the only way I was able to become the adult I needed to be. Being his daddy is the greatest challenge I’ve ever faced, and he is the most unstoppable force on God’s green earth. He is a significant joy, and his existence is of supreme importance to his mom and me, as well as all those around us. We love you Rho Rho, I can’t believe it’s double digit season. We are so happy that you are here and happy. Let’s give the Leo of the day a warm, loud, overstimulating Happy Birthday! by @itsklamusic

This week felt a little bit like coming home.

John flew in from Vancouver, and for a few days life slowed down enough for us to do what started all of this in the first place—make music together.

There were early mornings, late nights, too much coffee, long walks, half-finished lyrics, and those moments where a song suddenly becomes something neither of us expected.

No big announcement. No grand reveal.

Just a week we’re really grateful for and a reminder that some of the best things in life are built one ordinary day at a time. taken in Nashville, Tennessee by @itsklamusic
