Three years ago today you could find me wandering around the village of Tao Hua Tan with @lauramoraosorio_art @luciana_rago @larrymunnoz and @kristinaaapt . We were part of an international artist residency cohort in Anhui, China facilitated by Tronto-based gallery, @llcontemporary . So grateful to have spent time with all of these incredible artists in such a gorgeous place.

In this iteration of the ongoing “Rain In A Burning Garden” series, I used the detached head of broom to make vastly larger strokes than in previous versions. This creates a “magnified” look when paired with another image that it can dialogue with chromatically. The stiffness of the broom bristles produces fabulously distinct trails in the paint and then flings it wildly where the broom changes direction.
