It’s already February so I think it’s safe to say that it’s time for a post. Are people still saying Happy New Year or are we past that yet? 😅 All joking aside, I hope everyone’s been having a great start to the year.

This year, I told myself that I’d carry forward the values I prioritized in 2025, the year I decided to take things slow. It was a year of disconnecting from the need to constantly show up (especially on here), and instead, creating physical and mental space which allowed for a more balanced pace of life.

Now I’ve got to admit, I didn’t really touch the camera all that much, and I sure as hell miss the creative process, but it left room for focusing on health, discovering new hobbies, and spending more time with loved ones.

For that, it made me realize that growth doesn’t always look like progress, sometimes it looks like peace.

My favourite season, which also seems to be the shortest. Soon, the leaves will have fallen, as will the temperature, and the colours that once painted the world will fade. But for now, the air still carries that familiar calm that I wish would linger a little longer.

Frames from Nova Scotia.

I feel like this part of Canada doesn’t get the recognition that it should. Visiting felt like passing through a small town… quiet, no crowds, peaceful. It was different compared to most places nowadays which are usually flooded with people. It was a nice change of pace met with incredible landscapes, beautiful coastlines, the kindest people and the best damn seafood I’ve ever eaten.

A place defined by the genuine warmth of Cape Breton hospitality… the kind that makes you feel at home, even if miles away.

When life gets busy, sometimes all you need is to swap deadlines for lake time.

The Peakaboo cabin is the perfect escape from responsibility, where the only meetings you have to worry about are with the sunrise and sunset and the only calls that matter come from the loons.

… just remember to pack the bug spray. Come to think of it, do they have one for annoying coworkers? 😅

One of the most magical places on earth… and absolutely worth the early wake up call.

Catching first light hitting those peaks and slowly revealing the rich blue hues of Moraine Lake is something that stays with you… something that you should experience at least once. But let’s be real, once you see it, you’ll definitely want to return again. Photos don’t do it any justice. I mean, I can only speak on my behalf but I’m sure as heck itching to go back!
