An amazing experience to be invited to produce
Jamiroquai’s Dynamite album which was released 20 years ago today. Recorded in Buckinghamshire, Los Angeles and New York
The band was recorded to tape on two locked 24 track Studer A827s and then re-recorded off the play heads into Pro Tools at 96kHz (not easy in 2005). Recorded on Jay’s E Series SSL. I mixed in NY between a Neve VR and SSL 9000 and then finally everything went back through the E-Series on to 1/2 inch tape. I loved making this album. by @itsmikespencer

Keith went on an adventure today and got a bit lost. It took us off for a couple of hours walk in the spring sunshine. Clever Keith! #swansofinstagram by @itsmikespencer

I spent the whole of January in Antarctica, the White Continent. I boarded a ship from the bottom of South America. to sail across The Drake Passage, considered to be the most treacherous stretch of sea in the world. Not being a natural seafarer I can testify to that. Two days in we entered the Antarctic Convergence Zone. A weird, spooky dense mist descended. On the other side of this strange polar front lies a magical world that most people will never see. The last mostly untrodden wilderness. A place so beautiful it’s overwhelming. We have one world. Take care of it! by @itsmikespencer

After a 10 year journey, today Manizha releases her war and peace epic GUN into a world beset with conflict. Her courage and compassion knows no bounds. This is a proud moment for everyone involved. The power and the passion of art remains a beacon of hope and illuminates a path for us all. We need not fear governments and AI if we can make great music and art.

Despite this, every attempt will be made to stifle this song and accompanying film. We will experience cyber attacks and false claim takedown notices. So please help give this positive message of hope the oxygen it needs and deserves. Thank you by @itsmikespencer

We live in a dangerous, unstable world, but we are, at present, free to express our opinions and to protest against things we believe to be wrong. @manizha is not afforded that right. Her support for the LGBTQ+ community in Russia and her anti-war position has landed her in trouble with the authorities. She is currently under investigation by the The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. She is blacklisted and prevented from playing anywhere in Russia. Despite the constant danger and harassment she has elected to remain in Russia and continues to spread a message of hope. Candlelight is the first release from her forthcoming EP. by @itsmikespencer

I am so sad to hear of the tragic loss of Derrick Mckintyre. Derrick was one of the finest musicians I’ve ever had the privilage to work with. His playing was effortless and he could push a groove like no one else.
Always a joy in the studio we worked on a lot of big records together. With such unparalleled modesty he explained to me on one occasion that whilst his mates were raving about how great the current number 1 single was, he felt it inappropriate to point out that it was actually him playing on it. What a gent and what a huge loss. by @itsmikespencer
