I’m honored to announce that I’ll be speaking at the Africa Fashion and Arts Conference @official_afac this December in Abuja, alongside incredibly talented creative practitioners and industry professionals.

From being a 2 time nominee to now taking the stage as a speaker at one of Africa’s largest and most prestigious creative gatherings I’m humbled and ecstatic about this milestone!

📍 See you on December 5th at the @afaawards African Fashion and Arts Awards main stage.

And that’s not all…I have another exciting announcement coming soon. Stay tuned!

Big thank you to @friendsofjag for always opening their doors to myself and every other creative that interacts with the space.

This week, I had honored an invitation to participate and present at the P20 Women's Parliament, which took place over the past 2 days in Capetown.

My presentation focused on women's marginalization within South Africa's creative and cultural sectors, a sobering industry valued at $4.3 billion USD, where men still dominate in benefits. The statistics are telling: women tend to reinvest in their communities when employed, yet they remain underrepresented in this crucial economic arena.

For instance, in public art, there is a need for more women. This medium has a unique ability to reach diverse audiences without barriers, directly engaging viewers from all backgrounds, and through the Curatica WISA program, I am actively investing and training more women muralists. Additionally, more women-owned creative businesses should receive the investment and support they deserve not as charity, but as actual opportunities to demonstrate skills and leadership, this is something I am leading on at Creative Nestlings. Thanks to the organizers for providing this platform, even though many other deserving women could have filled this space. Change starts today, and the creative sectors must contribute.

What an incredible initiative by @itsnonka and @curatica to be part of when creatives come together for a cause bigger than their own there’s magic there. Thanks to @plasconsa for the support of the paint and every artist that came to bring their craft and their time for such an important cause. It’s definitely all about bringing the change you want to see in the world. #creativecommunity #collaboration taken in Soweto Township, Johannesburg by @itsnonka

Yesterday Gauteng showed up!!!!

More than 100 people came together in Soweto to stand against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. Artists travelled from across the province, families came with their children, and the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, MECs, government representatives, political parties, healthcare workers, civil society, taxi owners and drivers all stood in one space around one message: More action is needed.

What began as an artist-led call to action became something much bigger than I imagined.

Thank you to Creative Nestlings Foundation, Curatica, and my core team @kingAya_, Tumi, Moya of @usandfive and everyone who helped plan, organise and execute the day.

Thank you to @plasconsa for the paint, the Gauteng Department of Health and Lilian Ngoyi Clinic at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital for allowing us to use the wall, and the Bara Taxi Association, taxi owners and drivers who showed up, painted with us and took a stand against GBVF.

Thank you to @Snalo_ for allowing us to use her design for the T-shirts, and to everyone who contributed spray cans, water, T-shirts, transport, equipment, time, labour and skills.

Thank you to everyone who shared and amplified the call-out, helped with graphics, sent messages of encouragement, invited others, and to every photographer, videographer and content creator who documented the day.

To the artists who gave their time and energy: @yanga_the_2ooo, @blacksheep_506 / FLYONE, @apollotheillustrator, @Wreckone1, @0j_geezus, @ScenicOra, @Me_im_tilla, @Artifiedbeing, @Leighleroux, @Broken_Afrikaans, @sliythebarber @ams_simpson @noluthando_zuma @sangamdiniso_ @miz_diamond @theenissysebego @urfav_k3a and everyone else who painted with us — thank you.

This was never just about painting a long wall. It was about remembering victims, standing with survivors, creating conversations, bringing people together and making GBVF impossible to ignore.

More content coming :)

We definitely forgot to tag alot of people that showed up. Please do tag yourself in the comments.

Thank you, Gauteng. You really showed up. 💜

BREAK THE SILENCE. STOP GBVF.

MORE ACTION IS NEEDED — AND WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU. 💜

South Africa is facing a national GBVF crisis. We need more awareness, more conversations, and most importantly, more visible action in our communities.

On 3 October 2026, our team & together with friends, fellow artists, and our community invite you to join us in Soweto as we work towards creating the longest GBVF awareness mural in Africa.

📍 Chris Hani Road, outside Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital
📅 3 October 2026
⏰ From 10AM

This is more than painting a wall. It’s about taking action, remembering lives, breaking the silence, and standing together to say: ENOUGH.

The mural will carry the names of women whose lives have been lost to GBVF. We will say their names. We will honor them. We will remember them.

You don’t need to be an artist. Just show up, pick up a brush, and make your mark. 💜

SAY THEIR NAMES. BREAK THE SILENCE. TAKE ACTION.

Let’s do this together.

We closed off the month of August
 — Women’s Month —
by honoring the original, unofficial Mayor of Johannesburg’s nightlife and culture, the great @mariamccloy . ❤️

A woman who has contributed so much to the heartbeat, energy, and cultural fabric of Johannesburg. We thought it was only fitting that she take her place amongst the greats under the bridge at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown right in the heart of the city and community she has helped shape.

This mural is our little love letter to our Mayor.

A huge thank you to all the incredible women who showed up Ntsiki, Mpho and Lerato), picked up brushes, shared stories, laughed with us, and helped bring this mural to life. There was something particularly special about closing Women’s Month with women coming together to paint and honor another woman.

Maria McCloy, forever part of Joburg’s story.

We had the honor of painting this mural of Charlotte Mannya-Maxeke in Kliptown, Soweto, just outside her historic home.

More than immortalising a trailblazing woman of many firsts including becoming the first Black South African woman to earn a university degree and founding the Bantu Women’s League. This mural became an opportunity for five women artists to showcase their skills, occupy public space and contribute to a much bigger purpose: telling our own stories as women.

One of the most beautiful parts of the process was seeing local women stop, acknowledge the work, and express their gratitude for seeing Charlotte’s legacy honored by fellow women. It reminded us that representation is not only about who we paint but also who gets to hold the brush.

A special thank you to the Gauteng Sports arts and recreation for continually supporting initiatives that place women at the forefront and create opportunities for women to work, create, and shape our cultural landscape.

We remember her. We honor her. And through the women who come after her, her story continues. by @itsnonka

When @mrpfashion challenged us to reimagine fashion as art through the lens of sustainability, none of us knew where it would lead. Soon enough, the six finalists were in Durban for an unforgettable day of filming, creativity and connection. by @itsnonka
