Bellingham Muralist & Abstract Painter 🇲🇽🇺🇸
Let’s collab 🤝🏼
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Salud to painting an entire brewery 🙀🍻✅

What even is a Beach Cat? 2 months of painting at South Paw I got to build some incredible relationships and connect with the story behind it all.

A Beach Cat is someone who is uncompromisingly themselves. Genuine to the core and not afraid to express what is within. Full of compassion and truly cares about others. That was my experience from day 1 and every time I go back.

I am very grateful and humbled to have contributed to the Beach Cat legacy. Thanks for having me and until next time, salud! by @ivancolinart

Better Together 🦥🦜🌊 Henry & Ivan @bellinghamseafeast Collab

This painting was started at SeaFeast last year and finished just in time for Creative Currents, the 10-year anniversary show at @cordatagallery It’s a juried exhibition celebrating Bellingham’s arts and maritime culture, and this piece will be part of a live auction the night of the reception. A portion of all sales will go towards supporting SeaFeast’s ongoing commitment to the preservation and celebration of maritime community.

This collab was made possible because of the connections SeaFeast sparks between the people who show up. An organic crossing of artists and artisans, brought together by a shared love of this place. Thankful for all the relationships this event has and continues to foster 🫶🏼

Reception is this Saturday, August 22nd, 2-5pm. Show runs through October 24th. by @ivancolinart

Wildflower Garden Mural Completó🪴🌸🪻

It’s crazy looking back at the date of my initial drawings for this back in April, seeing the full arc of this project. It had the least amount of wall space out of the three, but was the trickiest of the exterior murals at Cedar Commons.

Now for a much needed reset and some quality time with my family. Thanks for showing love and kindness through the sharing of these flowers.

Western Trilliums Mural 🩵

Truly it has been an honor to bring cohesion to this building through my artwork by highlighting native flowers found in Whatcom County. This piece continues the story of the Camas Lilies mural for the Cedar Commons Apartments.

The theme was brought forward by the client, and at first I had some trouble connecting with the prompt. But I’ve learned that creative constraints are the foundation for some of the most potent work. They force creativity to break through, instead of getting overwhelmed by infinite possibilities. Back in 2024 I painted a pair of rhododendrons for the same client, and since then it’s grown into a whole new strain of my artistic practice.

All the praise to @_averyallison_ for snapping some action shots, and to @ebog.arts and @darciegray_art for helping block in these massive flowers!

No matter the time of day, this wall was getting hit by sun, which had me jumping from wall to wall. Fortunately I prefer working this way, it allowed me to slowly build up the depth across the whole piece. Again, an incredible amount of thanks to the team at @opportunity_council for entrusting me to bring my artwork to their walls.

Camas Lillies Mural Complete ✅

Filled with gratitude for everyone’s support in making this wildflower piece for @opportunity_council at the Cedar Commons. It has been a journey I could not of walked alone.

Thank you to the residents for the thoughtful conversations, the car honks of encouragement (almost scared me off the ladder 😆), the assist from @ebog.arts @darciegray_art and @taj.eye.art who came in clutch 🫶🏼, and to my family and loved ones for their patience and belief.

Painting murals is a marathon. Plenty of excitement at the start, but most of the race is run in the boring middle: the mundane basics and process-oriented details. That’s what makes the finish worth it. Grateful to call this my profession.

This one’s not just for the traffic driving by, but for the people on foot who call this place home. These are for you.

Honored to finish this Diamond Head landscape commission for a dear friend from O’hau 🌅🌋🌊

Painting a place that holds so much meaning for someone transfers directly into the work. I am happy to be able to bring a piece of their hometown to Bellingham.

I’ll be taking a break from studio work and shifting my focus to larger scale projects next, can’t wait to share!

Greetings From Ferndale, Washington 🌸 🦅Mural Complete 🏡🗻🤘🏼🍓🫐🐻🐄

Final mural of 2025 in the books! I’m incredibly thankful to have been selected for this project by the Ferndale Arts Commission, in conjunction with @ferndalewaofficial Special thanks to @kaashaayi for the support and encouragement throughout the entire process.

Each letter was thoughtfully curated to represent the essence of Ferndale while also authentically expressing myself as an artist.

I’ll share a few examples here.

Starting with the “F” a Sandia Bliss dahlia originating in Whatcom County. A flower first cultivated by the Aztecs which personally resonated with me because of my cultural heritage. For the “E” I included a golden eagle mascot to reflect the pride the town has in its local high school. My wife, along with many of our friends, are alumni, which made this an obvious choice.

If you’d like a more detailed explanation behind each letter, sign up for my newsletter and I’ll loop you in.

I can’t wait to see what artworks the new year brings. This project was unexpected in the best way. When you surprise yourself as an artist, it is one of the most rewarding and satisfying feelings you can experience.

Lastly thank you to every person who cheered me on while I was painting. The little things matter.

It was a pleasure to paint live and contribute to the auction at the @vamosoutdoorsproject inaugural gala 🪅

The piece was inspired by Dr. Verónica N. Vélez’s keynote. The part that resonated with me most was her reflection on the unification of memory, culture, and connection, symbolized by La Tranza (the braid).

“A braid is strong because it refuses to let any one strand carry the whole weight. Memory alone can become nostalgia. Culture alone can be treated like a costume. Connection alone, without the first two, can forget why it matters. But woven together, they become belonging.”

I used that story as emotional fuel throughout the process, not to create a literal braid but to capture the feeling of striving to belong. We all carry a deep need to belong. It’s one of the most human desires, to feel connected, seen, and woven into a community. taken in Zuanich Point Park by @ivancolinart

Huge thanks to Jacob and Audrey for trusting me to create something special for their new space! It looks and feels incredible in there. A well-deserved upgrade after 10 years of building community through group fitness in Bellingham.
