🔥 ENTRE AMIGOS — AN INTIMATE NIGHT OF AUTHENTIC FLAMENCO 🔥

After nearly a year away, Jondo Flamenco returns to Club Fox for a very special evening devoted to the raw emotion, depth and beauty of authentic flamenco.

On Sunday, September 13, internationally acclaimed cantaor CRISTO CORTÉS, direct from France, joins PIROUZ DE CASPIO and an extraordinary ensemble of flamenco artists for an intimate night of cante, guitar and baile.

Born in Marseille into a family of flamenco singers with roots in Almería, Andalucía, Cristo Cortés is recognized as one of France’s leading flamenco cantaores. His career has taken him throughout Europe, Spain, the United States, Canada, Japan and beyond, performing alongside some of flamenco’s most distinguished artists.

Joining him on stage:

🎙️ PIROUZ DE CASPIO — Cante
🎸 DAVID McLEAN — Flamenco Guitar
💃 CAROLA ZERTUCHE — Baile
💃 LOURDES RODRÍGUEZ — Baile
💃 ELISABETH ESTEBANEZ — Baile
✨ + SPECIAL GUEST DANCERS

This is flamenco LIVE.

Not recreated from a recording. Not choreographed to a track.

A true cuadro flamenco — singers, guitarist and dancers listening, responding, challenging and creating together in the moment.

The cry of the cante.
The tension of a single guitar.
The golpe of a dancer’s foot against the stage.
The silence before the next phrase.
And the compás that holds everything together.

What happens on this stage will belong to this night, these artists and the audience experiencing it with them.

Last dance of the big shows! WOW! What fun it has been! Can’t believe how much I’ve learned. Also can’t believe how many times I had to change costumes. 😆 🤗

This costume is from one of my favorites, Tarkeada, from Bolivia. by @ivyleeaires

Jondo Flamenco presents Antonio Rey - Historias de un Flamenco, this Saturday at Club Fox in Redwood City! It’s gonna be a full house as we welcome this incredible grammy-winning musician!!

I can’t express enough how grateful I am to be involved with this project. I have been so lucky to witness one of my great friends, Pirouz Ebadypour, pouring his heart into producing project after project, chasing the soul of an artform. I am so proud of the music he is creating and I am eager to experience what magic these two artists have dreamed into existence. And, I hear they have even been getting up to something incredible in the recording studio.. I can’t wait for the release!

To be a musical artist in this life is truly an incredible gift. 😌 🎶

If you’re lucky, you can grab the last couple of seats on Eventbrite to enjoy Flamenco history in the making! by @ivyleeaires

I’m amazed I’ve made it to this incredibly jam-packed moment in the year!! Just a couple more weeks to go and I’ll be to the other side of one of the biggest goal-setting seasons I’ve ever set out for myself. There have been so many twists and turns in these last 5 months. It’s been an amazing, fast-paced, whirlwind of growth, and I never could have imagined I’d really be doing the things I’m getting up to now!

From reaching for a hard-earned scholarship that set me up for an incredible season in dance, to training and transitioning into a really great position that I love at work, to gearing up for two big stage performances, while dancing regular gigs at the cutest local spot you could find, and even getting the chance to participate in hosting one of the world’s top guitarists right here in our own incredible community… I really have been busy!!

And then, of course, there are all those ups and downs in life - A magical trip to visit my sweet brother, all the calls and video chats with family and friends who always live too far away. Some dips of hardship as time moves us along, and those solemn moments where I’ve had to pause to acknowledge loss and grief. And through all those moments, the loving relationship I’ve fallen into and the beautiful friendships that have blossomed all around as me and mine have been there for each other, facing our trials and celebrating our wins.

This year I feel so alive! I’m walking with a heart overflowing. I high-five my neighbors as we say hello each day, embrace the friends who give me strength, and cheer for the family I have, still standing strong.

What a year this is turning out to be, and we aren’t even halfway through.

At the end of June, I’m going to sit down and take a nice long break! by @ivyleeaires
