We challenge the expected to create spaces that elevate the way people think, work and connect.

The artwork within the gallery began as a way to reinterpret the bank’s history through a different language. Working from the timeline designed by Forza and curated by @maylinperezp artist Itzel Yard @ix.shells translated images, documents and archival material into data that feeds a generative system built from binary code.

Through the program, geometry, scale, color and position can be controlled and continuously transformed. As new information is introduced, new forms are added to the composition, allowing the piece to evolve alongside the history it represents.

Rather than illustrating a fixed moment in time, the work gives form to an identity shaped through accumulation, change and continuous reinterpretation. by @ix.shells

“No Me Olvides” de @ix.shells es un proyecto con corazón y alma. Habla de mujeres artistas apasionadas y del legado que dejaron en este mundo, haciéndolas visibles por medio de ella. Ver el trabajo detrás, sin luces ni cámaras, fue conmovedor, porque son muchas las personas que forman parte de algo de esta magnitud.

Estoy agradecida de haber visto el proceso y el resultado de cerca. Y, sin duda, uno de los regalos más lindos que me llevo de haber vivido esta experiencia fue el recibimiento y la reacción de la gente que vino a verlo: las interacciones y lo mucho que conectaron con las obras. Akalki Bacalar, Quintana Roo — tengo tanto por compartir desde hace mucho tiempo, porque no empezar con un viaje que me ayudó a desbloquear energía, mi amor por la fotografía y descubrir patrones que dialogan con la arquitectura presente en lo natural.

Revisitar este corto fue como verme desde afuera, con los ojos del tiempo — Ixshells: An Ethereum Story.

Es como observar mi historia entre lo que fluye y lo que construyo.
Hablar de mi padre, de mi casa, de Panamá, me recuerda por qué empecé a crear. El arte me salvó cuando las palabras no bastaban.

Quise salir del estudio y recorrer algunos lugares del país que siempre me inspiran. Fue regresar al origen de una conciencia que aún me guía: ver cómo la belleza y la fragilidad conviven y como, en medio de todo, persiste la posibilidad de crear, cuidar y recordar.

Programar también puede ser un acto de amor, una manera de no olvidar. Cada paisaje y cada silencio me devuelven a ese punto donde todo comenzó: una niña frente a una pantalla, soñando con construir su propio mundo.

Este corto, filmado hace tres años y tokenizado, forma parte del documental independiente Vitalik: An Ethereum Story, disponible en línea.

With No Me Olvides (“Don’t Forget Me”), we’re sharing a new solo project by Ix Shells, co-curated by Emilie Boe Bierlich for the Nordic framework and Juan Canela and Alejandro Cartagena for the Latino framework. The work draws on archives of nineteenth-century women artists across Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America, connecting their overlooked histories with Ix’s Afro-Caribbean and Latin American heritage. Using tools such as TouchDesigner, Notch, LiDAR, and generative sound, she transforms these materials into a large-scale, interactive installation where viewers’ movements trigger shifting fields of light and audio. Across immersive visuals and animated video works, “No Me Olvides” becomes a sensorial bridge between erased histories and living code.

[Against All Odds] This project shaped my life for years. After traveling all the way from Panama to Copenhagen, I was invited to learn from artists who crossed borders to share their craft. It hit close to home ^-^

Working with @fellowship.xyz brings back the sense of dedication I felt during my two year residency and exhibition at the @smkmuseum I miss that time, the city, and the people i worked with. Thank you for the space to experiment @alexcartagenamex @rozmerel @artxcode.io

[Against All Odds - @smkmuseum opening 31.8.2024] This is my first major interactive installation for a museum, in dialogue with the artworks of historical women of Nordic descent. “All artists in the exhibition have one thing in common: they left home countries to pursue their artistic ambitions abroad” [ —— ] Tell me about traveling across time zones all the way from Panamá to become a guest artist for The National Gallery of Denmark!
