After a year in Los Angeles, we’re ready to make it official: North Loop is now IZZY LEE. We’re proud of our Williamstown roots and North Loop years, and excited for this next chapter. Our program continues: close collaborations with artists we believe in, and an ongoing dialogue between LA and the Northeast. An exciting show announcement and more to come soon!

“airdrobe,” a new work by Hai-Wen Lin, is on view in “Dye Trace,” which remains open through October 31.

Lin works with a stripe of light blue and white, the pattern of the tarps found across Taiwan—sheltering market stalls, protecting buildings mid-construction. At IZZY LEE, the Taiwanese-American artist stages new work from their “drobe” series (2025–ongoing)—irregularly shaped, sewn garments in this pattern, each undressing one thing to clothe another. The series takes its name from where clothes get tossed aside rather than hung—the chair-drobe, the floor-drobe—and the tarps hang the same way, like clothing thrown off a body. For “Dye Trace,” they created “airdrobe” (2026), which hangs as a kite—a garment held by a line, now dressing the wind.

Hai-Wen Lin, “airdrobe (look 3, look 5),” 2026, Cotton, thread, dowels, orange flagging tape, crystal beads, objects from Los Angeles Chinatown gift shop, Dimensions variable.

“Meander,” a set of eight unique drawings by Abby Flanagan, is on view in “Dye Trace,” which remains open through October 31.

“Meander” (2025) begins from a water current meter, an instrument resembling a pinwheel of small metal cups that measures a river’s velocity. Flanagan has fashioned one into a drawing tool, and, working from recorded meter data, moves her wrist in time with the changing current to transfer pigment to paper.

It’s also the final week to see “It’s Raining in Montana,” the artist’s solo presentation at STNDRD Exhibitions, Granite City, IL. The presentation closes this Friday, October 9th.

1-3: Abby Flanagan, “Meander,” 2025, 8 unique drawings, all colored pencil and transfer pigment on paper. Each drawing 11 x 9 in. unframed, 39 1/2 x 33 1/4 in. framed.
4: Installation view of “Meander,” 2026.

A new interview with Molly Zuckerman-Hartung and writer Claudia Ross is now up at The Creative Independent! Link in bio.

In the piece, Zuckerman-Hartung says: “[My work is] process-based and then there’s an emotional question. What’s actually going on in my life? What’s my relationship to home right now? What kind of losses am I suffering? Just trying to sink into an actual mood... into a feeling... is the point of making something for me. The question is: What is that feeling? Can I go for a long walk and stay in some kind of mood? Or can I notice the weather? It’s feeling cool and dry right now. How does that enter the painting? Or how does the mood of my studio right now enter the painting? All of that is this big atmospheric tumult that I’m trying to gather.”

New work by Marina Darcy Weiner is now on view in “Dye Trace,” a three-person show that remains on view through October 31.

“Tenkeyless” is an uncanny “keyboard” of wall-mounted ceramic tiles, one for each letter, bearing obscure symbols in relief. The shapes Weiner forms by hand suggest the rungs of ladders, screws, handles, and other everyday tools, finished with painterly detail with underglaze and oxides. Some tiles carry the tools’ imprints directly: The artist presses a thin slab of clay over one, lets it dry until the shape holds, then cuts the slab into pieces and sets them into the relief. She is also thinking about early industrial printing, where the linotype—a machine that cast whole lines of type at once from molten metal—produced slugs that could be melted down and cast again and again.

Congratulations to Abby Flanagan on her solo presentation “It’s Raining in Montana,” on view with STNDRD Exhibitions (1800 block of State Street, Granite City, IL) through October 9.

The work is up throughout Counterpublic 2026 in neighboring St. Louis—if you’re in town for the triennial, please stop by.

From STNDRD’s exhibition text: “’It’s Raining in Montana’ engages the Missouri River as both subject and site. The Missouri River is the longest continuous surface channel of water in North America, and flows for over 4,200 miles from the Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi Delta. Rainfall in Montana joins waters from North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri, forming the Missourian streambed before continuing through the Mississippi to the Gulf. Granite City, Illinois is a dot along this route.”

Abby’s work is also on view in “Dye Trace,” our three-person exhibition at IZZY LEE (508 Chung King Road), up through October 31.

Tomorrow! “Dye Trace” opens with a reception from 6-9PM, Friday, September 18 at IZZY LEE (508 Chung King Road).

Pictured: Marina Darcy Weiner’s tiles in progress. Weiner uses the tools around her studio as press molds—pressing a thin slab of clay over a ladder rung or a screw, letting it dry until the shape holds, then cutting the slab into pieces and setting them into the relief on the tile’s face. By tomorrow they’ll be on the wall, one for each letter of her ceramic “keyboard.”

We look forward to presenting new work by Hai-Wen Lin in “Dye Trace,” a three-person show opening at IZZY LEE (508 Chung King Road) on Friday, September 18, with a reception from 6-9PM.

For “Dye Trace,” Lin builds new scaffolding, site-specific to the gallery, to stage a garment from their drobe series, and hangs a second as a kite; a hand-embellished print made with Chicago’s Process/Process joins them.

Hai-Wen Lin (b. 1994, Urbana, IL) makes sculptures that address autobiographical narrative and constructions of the body. They are a graduate of Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and received a M.Des in Fashion, Body and Garment from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. They are a recipient of the Museum of Arts and Design’s Burke Prize, the Ellis-Beauregard Visual Arts Award, and a Luminarts Visual Arts Fellow. Lin has held recent solo exhibitions at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, NY; Chinese American Museum of Chicago, Chicago, IL; and Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis, MO.
