This is AMAZING! In 2024, John Ukomadu paid to attend open tryouts for the @motorcitycruise…tonight he played in his FIRST NBA PRESEASON GAME for the @detroitpistons! The 6’7” swingman checked in late in Q4 and had the defensive stop to force OT. He is on a training camp deal and battling for a final spot on their roster. He spent the last two years in the G League where he averaged 10.1 PPG on 42% 3PT. 🙏 @j.3x_

John won the 2026 G League AT&T Slam Dunk Contest. Two weeks ago, he helped G League United win gold for the first time at the @fibaic in China! by @j.3x_

Since the @motorcitycruise G League tryouts are going viral, let’s focus on their biggest tryout success story ever! 6’7” John Ukomadu attended the open tryout in 2023, made the final roster, and is on the verge of potentially playing in the NBA. Despite hardly playing to start his G League career, Ukomadu evolved into a huge part of their rotation and averaged 10.1 PPG on 42% 3PT in two seasons. 🔥 @j.3x_

John was the WINNER of the 2026 G League AT&T Slam Dunk Contest and earned two NBA Summer League deals with the Pistons and Nets. He averaged 9.3 PPG on 58% FG in just 10.3 MPG during the 2026 SL with Brooklyn - including a 23 PT & 9 REB game off the bench. by @j.3x_
