proof of physical life p.s. the background scans from inside berghain were, in fact, allowed x by @j.aelily

returned to berlin this week - super excited to be a part of @top_ev_berlin 🥼 and very grateful to @xristinasarli for kindly offering mentorship in building a project exploring biological/ecological organisms through material and visual interaction over the next year or so <3 🧫⚗️

i think it’s really cool to meet other artists who are curious about biology but also approach it without necessarily having a traditional scientific background, as well as exploring ecology and how it relates to the human self

there is a thread of familiarity running between them, linking how we interact with the natural world and how this is meditated through technology, which i’m looking forward to working through…

…like actually growing the grass to touch when the internet gets too much, but maybe the grass touches back this time 🌱🤝🏻

(this is not grass but i thoroughly enjoyed touching it)

digital worldbuilding through photogrammetry & LIDAR, recreating familiar textures and structures into surreal, liminal worlds. recognisable, close, but not quite enough

the most ‘berlin’ experience i had when i visited for berlin new media week was when i was stood in line for the toilets at a party - in a converted flat venue that is barely findable on google maps - and someone asks if i want my photo taken on their modded PSP

the PSP was barely functioning and unable to export any photos, so once the device shut down, they would be lost. unfortunately did not get their name, but we shared our mutual enthusiasm for the reward in reviving ‘obsolete’ tech and the poeticism of memories disappearing into data - and then separated to dance and didn’t meet again :’) by @j.aelily

slimy - surreal - vaguely familiar - liminal - inescapable virtual realms

++ huge thanks again to @rhizomatic.ldn for believing in our vision n having such a cute cozy space!! looking forward to visiting again soon hehe xx
