Install shots from performative skin.

I was interested in how this forest of pole paintings asks you to contend with them through your body. It was fun watching folks ducking and weaving amongst them at the opening.

I’m grinning ear to ear to be able to share my installation “My Bedroom Is Not Your Bedroom”

For me, it reflects on queer intimacy, disclosure, identity construction, and the challenges of navigating queer relationships. It some ways I’m treating anyone who walks through this space like a hookup visiting my bedroom.

Special thanks to my collaborator @jsbxse Who was an incredible thought partner and designed the accompanying sound piece (more on that soon).

Shout out @daniel.picking for the install help. And @hannahcrickman for the photos! taken in Salina Art Center by @j_pack_ard

Public Assembly (ACT UP), 16 x 20”

I’ve been painting images of ACT UP protests. To look at images of queer resilience in the 80s—and reflect on the social and legal victories they achieved—is heartening when I’m feeling demoralized about demonstrations in recent years which seem to underscore political gridlocks and institutional apathy more than spark meaningful change. by @j_pack_ard

Sharing this late, but I’m so pleased with the catalog that accompanied the biennial exhibition I cocurate with @blair.e.murphy at @mocaarlington

My essay examines historical notions of the artists function in society and contrasts them with the artists in this exhibition who offer a more socially and politically engaged model for how artists can shape culture.

I’ve been looking at images of 20th century protest, disruption, and activism seeking a little bit of hope for our current political reality.

8x10” gouache sketch based of a photograph taken at the National AIDS Action for Healthcare in Chicago, April 20, 1990, one of the largest AIDS demonstrations ever held. by @j_pack_ard

My birthday this year landed on the same week as the election. I fled the bleak news coverage of our new political reality and went hiking by myself in West Virginia. I got some space to process my dismay and even managed to find some bday joy exploring the mossy forests. I hope yall find ways to feel what you need to feel this week. taken in Dolly Sods Wilderness by @j_pack_ard

@youngbauhaus makes abstract sculptures about immigration. He strategically refuses convenient identity markers in his work to reclaim his own story within a political climate that targets immigrants.

Currently on display at @mocaarlington.

Part of the national biennial exhibition that I cocurated with @blair.e.murphy titled Assembly 2024: Horizon Scanning
