#wemove - Year 1

Last year I started running again. At first, it was just me. It started as loops around the Rose Bowl and blocks around Pasadena. It was lonely, but peaceful. I didn’t mind it.

But then that all changed. It started with a random Tuesday in January out at Echo Park. I met some amazing people. And then that somehow turned into consistent Tuesdays in the Arts District.

And then we added in track nights on Mondays. Then we added in races and experiences on the weekends. And then I realized that the “we” wasn’t just me anymore.

I look around my life now and it’s filled with nothing but community. Not how I intended it to be when I started logging miles again. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.

To every person that I’ve shared a mile or even a step with, whether that be on the road, trail, track or somewhere in-between, thank you. by @jaaleen

On Sunday, I woke up at 3am. The rain followed soon after that.

Over the course of 55 miles and 10,000 feet of climbing, you learn a lot about yourself.

Over the course of 13 hours through the morning, afternoon, and evening, you learn a lot about yourself.

Through the muddy shoes, falls into the bushes, trips over rocks, you learn a lot about yourself.

You really have to love this shit. And I’m glad that I do.

Runners Highlight feat. @jaaleen:

“Running in general has grown to be one of the bigger parts of my life over the past few months. Outside of doing it to stay in shape, I love the community I’ve gotten to build with it. I’ve met so many amazing people through this sport. And outside of the shared miles on the roads and trails, what I’ve loved the most is genuinely getting to know these people.

That’s what I love about SF. It’s never been about how far or how fast we’re going. All we care about is showing up how we are, whatever that may look like, on any given day.
