Since 1986, Chris has lived and breathed pigment, dispersions, and ink production. He’s been making ink with Lou and Jackie since 2012, and has even developed colors for the permanent makeup industry. Every Modern Tattoo Ink color starts as a design on paper. Then Chris makes it behave in a bottle. (Anyone who’s ever wrangled pigment knows that’s no small feat.) Fun fact: Chris mixes ink all day with old TV shows playing in the background. Judge Judy, Maury, The Andy Griffith Show, and Barney Miller keep the lab company. Meet @russabbott , Creative Director at Modern Tattoo Ink. 27 years of tattooing. Zero chill about geometry. Russ specializes in Kumiko-inspired geometric and ornamental color work, the kind where every line has to earn its place. He owns Ink & Dagger Tattoo in Roswell, Georgia, founded Tattoo Smart, and now leads our color system and the CORE palette at Modern Tattoo Ink. If you’ve ever wondered why the color looks this good, that’s him. Fun fact: Russ absolutely despises fake window shutters that couldn’t actually cover a window.
