A few hours before @priyaverse met @jackmannix outside @pass_port_storeandgallery, he had rescued a dying pigeon from the street. He nursed it across the city and delivered it to a woman he found on Marketplace who rehabilitates birds. Later, she texted him: “I wish more people were as kind as you,” which felt strangely emblematic, since his images move through subculture, sex, mysticism, adventure and emotional ruin with an unusual degree of tenderness.

It feels fitting that his exhibition 'Abalone Shell' arrives in the immediate aftermath of Neptune in Pisces, the fourteen-year astrological transit associated with dreams, illusion and dissolution. How come? Well, the exhibition is suspended inside that same atmosphere: oceanic, metallic, mystical, chemically altered, halfway between real and imagined.

Dusk2Dawn make an extremely rare live appearance Thursday May 21st to preview their forthcoming album ‘Make A Wish’ at Sean & Dolly’s in Kings Cross. The duo comprising of Jack Mannix & Finn Parker (Eternal Dust) make dizzying ethereal downer anthems, melting elements of shoegaze, witch house & dream pop into a slow motion cyclone of dissociative sounds. Supported by the goth-gabber-punk stylings of California Girls, Melbourne’s occult freak pop darlings Synergy Trilogy & the ambient alchemical magic of Szem, with DERO Arcade & Love And Pop DJs spinning tunes for spinning rooms. Tickets at the link in bio, poster by Jack Mannix 🌪️ taken in Sean & Dolly's by @jackmannix
