We are pleased to introduce @jackpaffett as the inaugural guest artist for our new exhibition space at Folks. It is a privilege to have an artist of Jack’s caliber in to launch this initiative. Jack is contemporary painter whose work blends expressiveness with daily observation. After studying at Falmouth University, he gained prominence in the UK art scene, winning awards like the Chubb Bulleid People's Choice Prize at Wells Art Contemporary for his solo piece Basic Space.

You will find 9 originals of all sizes, colours, and compositions dotted throughout Folks for the next 3 months. Along with one of his earlier works, which has adorned the walls since we opened in 2024.

We intend to rotate the artwork on a seasonal basis, featuring four distinct installations throughout the year. Please contact us if you are interested in participating.

All original pieces and prints are available for purchase and will remain on display until the new year. taken in Folks Barbershop by @jackpaffett

A studio round up.

Recent photos I’ve taken along the way in my studio recently. Lots of colour, bigger brush marks, drawings, going through some old monotypes and artist references for the paintings. by @jackpaffett

For the eagle eyed amongst you, there may be a few sections of these 2 new works that you’ll recognise. That’ll be due to the fact I took a diptych, that I completed last year and grew to dislike, went back over the canvases and have made them individual artworks in their own right.

Due of their connected history I thought it was only apt to give them titles that echo that. So here are ‘Brother Sister’ and ‘Sister Brother’.

Scroll through to see more details of the new artworks and the original diptych.

WORKS ON PAPER / currently available through my online store.

My works on paper underpin my painting process. I often refer to them as reference points for my larger paintings, but they hold a powerful raw quality in their own right. I use imagery from my own experiences and surroundings as starting points, but they are never solid in their formation. These studies become a series of notes as I struggle to capture moments through the process of painting. I encourage a playfulness and pace, allowing spontaneous impulses to obscure and mutate the constantly evolving surfaces.

Going big.
Over that last month or so I’ve slowing been working on a selection of my largest works yet. Plenty of mistakes, risks and happy accidents across the canvas, but loving the space and physicality of this scale - more layers to be added. by @jackpaffett
