Every place has a story. Few have been telling it since 1864.

For more than 160 years, Jack’s has been part of San Francisco’s story—a sanctuary for leisurely meals and lively conversation, a setting for every kind of celebration, and home to some of the city’s best tables for exchanging ideas and imagining what might come next.

It was over lunch at Jack’s that Ernest Hemingway and Ingrid Bergman discussed her role in For Whom the Bell Tolls, one conversation among countless others that went on to shape the stories, ideas, and culture of the world beyond these rooms.

Each generation has left something behind, adding another layer to Jack’s story while preserving the spirit of those who came before.

Today, @skylight is honored to be the new steward of Jack's. We are reclaiming the role of the restaurant as a gathering place for San Francisco, and carrying forward the enduring belief that hospitality has the power to bring people together.
