Where San Francisco has gathered since 1864. Reimagined as a private event venue & salon space by @skylight

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I *could* be a cool person and just title this post Life Lately or some other coy bullshit. But I’ll tell you what; the past week looked like a huge Mercury in retrograde-style hot mess. True challenges. My patience and self-worth being tested. You name it.

And yet, here’s something I’m learning to do better - noticing the amazing things about the everyday (thankfully there’s plenty of that) and congratulating myself more, just because. Especially during weird, turbulent times. High five on the life I’m creating for myself, on the fact my brain still works and my love and curiosity for people doesn’t wane, on leading with passions and gut instincts (probably the hardest thing ever?!)

Looking back, September was so abundant. Dancing (through tears in some cases)! Pools and beaches! Sweet friends! Community! It reminded me of all that (plus, nothing like hosting friends from abroad to get a really good perspective, highly recommend). Let’s keep going.

Probably my favorite story this year.

Things are happening in San Francisco! I moved here in 2013 and had seen it soar and fall and rise again, from parklets to pop-ups to drama to euphoria. There’s a new chapter in local dining unraveling, and it coincides with a new, exhilarating chapter in media. What an honor and thrill to converge the two in my debut for @caper.media, a publication I’ve been following with admiration since its inception.

While AI elicits suspicion and disdain in many, it’s essential to engage with its “era” in a deeper way, probing and checking - this industry shapes the narrative in so many explicit and implicit ways. Understanding those undercurrents is not only helpful in navigating the wild times we live in, but also dismantles anxiety and replaces it with agency (my unsolicited take).

Hopefully, in reading this article, a complex and overall positive picture will emerge. I certainly enjoyed painting it.

Thank you @mrdanabrown and @maggarino for your guidance and thank you everyone who helped me bring this important and timely story to life; @sethstowaway at @folkloresf, @colleenbooth at @lazybearevents and @sfjoujou, @ligaya, James Nicholas, @data_pake, @alamos919 , @instamandie at @fwhospitality, Carrie Blease at @wolfsbane_sf, @shelleylindgren at @lucaniasf (can’t wait to go!!), @kimmyelwell, @anand.g.sheth and everyone I spoke to anonymously 🕵️🕵️.

What an interesting scene we have. What a fascinating time to be here.

Venue report: Jack’s by Skylight reopens as an intimate salon and private event space, reimagining the historic San Francisco gathering place around hospitality, conversation, and connection. Originally opened in 1864, Jack’s has long been part of the city’s social fabric, once known for double-cut chops, martinis, closed-door deals, and stories best kept within its walls. The newly reimagined space is available for dinners, salons, launches, celebrations, and private gatherings, carrying forward Jack’s longstanding role as a place for San Francisco to gather. @skylight
