Download ![Baroque Sunburst 034 is currently installed at Goat Farm. This work is part of Jackson Markovic’s Baroque Sunburst series that is currently being publicly exhibited around the city of Atlanta and was also recently included in a performance of Smoke by Pasquale (@pasquale.live).
Pasquale – Atlanta-based artist Erik Thurmond’s solo project – blends contemporary dance, performance art, and electronic pop into a charged, embodied persona that moves between spiritual inquiry and material reality. Smoke was a large-scale, site-responsive performance that expanded this practice into something more immersive: part experimental opera, part live transmission — activated by an ensemble of multidisciplinary artists.
The title draws from the Hebrew word hevel (vapor, smoke), a thread that runs through Ecclesiastes as a meditation on the fleeting nature of existence. Working from this ancient lens of impermanence, Smoke lingers in the in-between: asking what it means to live, to make, to hold meaning in a world that won’t stay still.
