Awesome few days in San Francisco with my love @phaffrica celebrating our friends magical wedding in the trees. We explored the city, clubbed with the gays, hiked some trails, drove the coast, had some fall fun at a pumpkin patch and maze, and drove up to wine country. Lovely adventures 🌳💚 #travel #gay #sanfransisco #adventure #california taken in San Francisco, California by @jacob_bean

España Day 12. Traded the bikes in for a little zippy mini cooper. Ten days of e-biking the Camino del Norte turned into a 6.5-hour road trip back today, retracing our exact route back to Bilbao. Surreal to fly by it in a few hours after taking us a week + on bikes. Before heading back we went out to the edge of the world at Finisterre. Long before the Romans called this jagged Galician headland the end of the earth ancient Celts worshipped the setting sun here, and today, pilgrims walk past Santiago to reach the iconic 0.00 km stone Camino marker to symbolize the ultimate completion of their journey. We also stopped to see the 13th-century stone bridge of Pontemaceira, stopped by Praia de Carnota for a quick dip, saw Ézaro (Europe’s only waterfall plunging straight into the ocean), and after driving for a few hours we stopped at Playa del Silencio. It requires a steep hike down to swim but was so worth it! Got in my naked swims today so feel accomplished 🤣 We talked about doing this trip for years and planned it back in January, and it was entirely worth it! So many amazing sights and memories. Loved biking town to town. The challenge and freedom of it. Now I’m ready to head home because I REALLY miss my husband and dog. Ready to dive back into real life. #spain #travel #adventure #biking #caminodesantiago taken in Finisterre by @jacob_bean

Espańa Day 11. Had a bit of anxiety trying to figure out how to get closer to Santiago de Compestela because our stop last night was 10.5 hours of biking which was never gonna happen. Thankfully, we were able to get a taxi with a trailer. Had to take the wheels off the bike to fit in the trailer but all worked out. We got dropped of in the town of Sobrado where we checked out the Monastery and then biked 35 miles into Santiago de Compestela. Today was a HOT day! Definitely missed the breeze and cooler temps of the north coast because biking in 92 degrees wasn’t the best. The views were lovely though as we rode through mostly farmland and eucalyptus tree farms. Getting into the city was pretty annoying with traffic - definitely loved all the small towns we biked through more this week. We checked into our hotel, said goodbye to our bikes 😭 and explored the Cathedral of Santiago. Walked through the old town close to where we are staying and had a great dinner. In total, we biked 281 miles from Bilbao to Santiago de Compestela. We ended skipping more sections that we had planned but gave us more time to explore cities and not be too concerned about running out of power on our bikes and having to recharge mid ride. This was such a great trip. One for the books for sure. One of my favorites I’ve done because it’s just been so different. I’ve never ridden a bike for 10 days before city to city, living out of a backpack. Pretty epic and would recommend! The northern coast of Spain is just so gorgeous. Tomorrow we start our journey home by grabbing a rental car and roadtripping the coast back to Bilbao to fly home. #spain #travel #adventure #biking #santiagodecompostela taken in Santiago de Compostela, Spain by @jacob_bean

España Day 10! What a day it was. One for the books, we had our longest ride today.. clocking in somewhere around 52 miles. We rode from Luarca to Ribadeo. We stopped a few times along the route today and moseyed about. Found a gorgeous secluded beach that was surrounded by cliffs and went for a swim, played in the huge waves. Then we found ourselves in the cutest little town called Tapia de Casariego where we had a great lunch and rode around the harbor. On our way into Ribedeo we had to cross this very long, very high bridge over a river. I was biking the very narrow path when the metal wall was sticking out and my bike hit, throwing me into the wall and pining me under the bike. Got some gnarly road rashes and bruises. Legit thought I broke my arm but thankfully I’ll just have some bruises. After checking into our hotel we rode out to Cathedrals beach for low tide. When the water is out you can walkthrough a series of rock formations and caves. Such a dreamy experience. We also went for a swim and watched the sunset. Rode back into town as the light was fading and had a great dinner. I think today was one of my favorite days of the trip because of the beaches and distance. Tomorrow is our final day on the bikes and our push into Santiago de Compestela! Such a fun journey! #spain #europe #travel #ribadeo #cycle taken in Ribadeo by @jacob_bean

España day 9. We biked 35 miles from Cudillero to Luarca. Lovely ride but our legs were jelly with all the ups and downs. Perfect weather! We climbed over 3600 feet in elevation! we stopped at a beach for a quick dip in to watch the surfers. Then we continued on to Lal Orraca, which is another gorgeous little coastal town I never knew about… spend some time on the beach and then toured around town to a beautiful church, rode the sea walls and enjoy the sunset over the marina. Another awesome day in Spain! Challenging but amazing! #biking #spain #travel #adventure #luarca taken in Luarca by @jacob_bean

España Day 8. Skipped some mileage via train due to get father down the northern coast. Spent more time in the train than we wanted but it is, what it is. We ended up biking around 20 miles to Cudillero. What a wonderful little colorful town right on the water. Lots of steep rides down into the town but so much fun. Great dinner by the water. Lucas and I explored after the sun went down and rode back up to the top of the town through some crazy steep, narrow passages. Surprised my legs still work 🤣Had some beers with some locals and then took off back down the same steep paths. Was a wild ride! Loving this Northern coast of Spain. Such lush landscapes and gorgeous beaches / coastline. What a journey! #spain #travel #camino #adventure #cudillero taken in Cudillero by @jacob_bean

España Day 7. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise. Left early to bike an hour to a neighboring town to catch a train. It was originally supposed to be a long 50 mile day. We got concerned that we would run out of charge on our electric bikes and the impending rain, so we decided to cut a part of the route via train. Train wasn’t running so we ended up getting on a bus and thankful they had space in the cargo underneath for our bikes. We shortened our journey by about two hours. End up biking somewhere along 20 to 23 miles yesterday from Comillas to Ribadesella. Such a gorgeous route along the coast. We stopped to see the blow holes and cliffs… then spent the afternoon wondering around the beautiful charming coastal town of Ribadesella. Hung out with the town dog Mocha… made me miss my little Karoo at home. We biked up to a church, hiked some rocks, swim in the ocean, drank sangria, watched surfers and ended the night having an awesome meal at our hotel. I ate every morsel. This has been such a grand journey and adventure. I’m having a blast. #adventure #travel #biking #spain #ribadesella taken in Ribadesella by @jacob_bean

España Day 6. Today was rather quick day. I must’ve planned this so that we had a lighter day because we booked a beachfront property. We rode only 13 miles from Santillana Del Mar to Comillas. Our first day of not great weather. Got down poured on and soaked. Thankful for rain covers for our luggage, the shoe covers my hubby bought me and my rain jacket. I was FREEZING at one point going down the hills. The rain stopped partially through our ride and we rode through the prettiest trees and past some beautiful old churches. We made it to Comillas in just 1.5 hours. Had lunch on the beach, got rained on again, napped, biked around the town which has many beautiful buildings including Gaudi’s only building outside of Catalonia. Really great city to stop in with a beautiful beach out our front door! Tomorrow we have an our longest day (50+ miles) so getting an early nights sleep! #travel #spain #adventure #cycle #comillas taken in Comillas, Cantabria, Spain by @jacob_bean
