After a year into my running journey, I’m blessed and honored to be able to say I’m officially a sponsored athlete as well as a race ambassador for an upcoming local trail race!

Before the sun came up, we were already out there.

Headlamps on.
Pack on.
Just a few friends meeting up fit the @jackaloperace 47K recon run while most of the world was still asleep.

No fancy plans. No perfect conditions. Just a trail, some good people, and a reason to keep moving.

Then little by little, the darkness started giving way to light.

Watching the mountains slowly show themselves. Feeling that first bit of sunlight hit the trail.
Seeing the desert come alive.
Stopping for a second just to appreciate where we are.

The trail has a way of fixing that.

It reminds you to slow down.
To breathe.
To take in the view.
To appreciate the people beside you.

Because at the end of the day, we’re not going to remember every mile.

We’re going to remember who was there.
The conversations.
The sunrise.
The hard parts.
The views we stopped for.
And those mornings when we said, “Let’s go,” before we even knew what the day was going to bring.

That’s what running has become for us.

More than miles.

Get outside.
Find your people.
Take the long way.
And every once in a while, stop running long enough to look around.

There’s a whole lot of beauty out here. 🌵☀️⛰️

Was able to finish all 6 loops under 30 minutes with my last loop being the best at 25 minutes!

Balancing pushing the pace and saving energy for the next loop was the best part of the challenge. Running for 30 minutes and resting for 30!

Drove to Chuck Heinrich park in the Northeast and ran back home to Doniphan on the Westside through Mundy’s Gap.

Had to detour to the highest peak in El Paso on the way ⛰️

So I came to scope out the @jackaloperace location for our Saturday recon run with @jacobslivinit and @420runningseries of the small route at 6:30 AM. If you’re coming from El Paso it is approximately 45 minutes away and if you’re coming from Las Cruces it is approximately 25 minutes away. You would have to exit the Mesquite exit at either direction you’re coming from, then drive about 3 miles from there toward the mountains. The location coordinates are on point if you plug them into your maps or press the link I posted as well. This route is ALL desert terrain. Rocks and gravel and rolling hills so come prepared! I expect to finish the recon run before 9 AM for sure because after that it is going to be hot 🥵! So come by and scope out the route and see what and where you will be running on. It is the EXACT small route as the Jackalope Trail Run so come by and challenge yourself! Everyone from El Paso, New Mexico, and Juarez are welcome no matter what run club you are affiliated with, come on out! If you need the location coordinates, a link to the location, or any questions just DM us. The Strava route to the small run can be found on our Chucotown Trailblazers Strava page so you can download it before you come. Look out for our Jackalope recon run of the long run as well coming soon! by @jacobslivinit
