Today we honor the life of Sue “Super Duty” Rogers after 13 years of faithful service to his family.

Sue was a laid-back, gentle, easygoing boy who really loved fetch- sticks were great and tennis balls were even better. He maintained a strict breakfast and supper schedule, and we were all made better by his adherence to The Schedule.

He lived a full life. After years serving as a canine in the “military” he briefly volunteered his time at Camp Down Range alongside four legged cadre Scout and Trigger.

Along with his human family, Sue is survived by his lifelong feline brother Gato, as well as good boy and girl Pancho and Lucy.

He is preceded in death by brother and mentor Higby, and bossy big sister Helen.

In accordance with his wishes, breakfast will still be served at 6:30 and supper at 5:00 sharp.

For 13 years, Sue gave us the kind of unconditional love only a dog can give. We will miss him more than words can say.

Rest easy, Super Duty. You were a very, very good boy. by @jacquebee

The number of messages sent between friends and friend groups yesterday speaks volumes. It isn’t silly to grieve over the loss of a special place.

While quality may have waned over the last few years the significance of memories made here did not. Township on the rocks and queso with a special friend who is no longer on this earth. Quick day dates with my husband. I’m not much for Girls’ Night Out, but it’s a birthday and someone says, “let’s go to Sombra” and I’m in. It was my welcome home meal upon returning from Africa- both times. Significant memories, but also the mundane ones made on a Thursday night with my family.

But my dearest memory is this one. Immediately after my boy got his glasses, we went to Sombra. He saw the inside of this restaurant before he saw the inside of his own home. The color and texture and warmth and light must have been amazing.

I’m sad. Y’all are sad. Someone needed to say it. But while the place was special, you are what made it special.

After last year’s mission trip with Pinelake + gracewater, Zimbabwe worked its way into my heart. Leaving was hard (yes, I cried as our plane left the small regional airport), but I knew I’d be back to see those people and places again someday. I just didn’t expect “someday” to be less than a year later. by @jacquebee
